Another day in office for mean NU spikers

MANILA, Philippines — Unblemished champion National U zeroed in on a first-round sweep by dismantling Adamson, 25-21, 25-23, 25-18, in the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball yesterday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Alyssa Solomon, last season’s Finals MVP, ran roughshod with 22 points on 15 hits, four blocks and three aces as the Lady Bulldogs moved to 6-0 ahead of their rematch with Season 86 finals rivals the UST Golden Tigresses this Sunday.
Reigning MVP Bella Belen took the backseat with only nine points but contributed 12 digs while Vange Alinsug added 12 points for the wards of coach Sherwin Meneses against his alma mater.
Lams Lamina facilitated the offense with 16 sets while libero Shaira Mae Jardio joined Belen in floor defense with 11 digs and 16 receptions for NU that needed only 80 minutes to bag another straight-sets win.
It’s the fifth sweep in six matches for the Lady Bulldogs, having a lone five-setter duel against Far Eastern U last month.
The Lady Bulldogs had the Lady Falcons on the ropes all match long save for the second set, where they needed to erase a 16-20 deficit behind Solomon and Alinsug.
That’s the championship pedigree of the Lady Bulldogs in full display.
