Petecio, Villegas kikilalanin sa 2nd PSC All Women Sports Awards
MANILA, Philippines — Bukod sa bronze medal sa nakaraang Paris Olympic Games ay may matatanggap pang parangal sina Nesthy Petecio at Aira Villegas sa 2nd PSC All Women Sports Awards sa Sabado sa Century Park Hotel.
Igagawad sa dalawang lady boxers ang Female Athletes of the Year honor matapos ang kanilang podium finish sa nakaraang 33rd edition ng Summer Games sa French capital.
“We will actually honor our Olympic bronze medalists Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas. Sila ‘yung ating Female Athletes of the Year,” wika kahapon ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Executive Director Paulo Tatad sa Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum sa conference hall sa Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
Kabuuang 136 awardees ang bibigyan ng plaque of citations at commemorative rings ng PSC sa ilalim ni chairman Richard Bachmann.
Ang PSC All Women Sports Awards, konsepto ni PSC Commissioner at bowling great Bong Coo, ay kumikilala sa kontribusyon ng mga outstanding Pinays sa Philippine sports.
Isinasagawa rin ang programa bilang selebrasyon sa National Women’s Month.
Si Tatad ay sinamahan ni PSC All-Women Sports Award secretariat head Rachel Dumuk sa PSA Forum na inihandog ng San Miguel Corporation, PSC, Philippine Olympic Committee, MILO, Smart/PLDT at 24/7 sports app ArenaPlus.
Bukod sa Athletes of the Year, ibibigay din ang Lifetime Achievement Award, Major Awards, Outstanding Female Coaches of the Year, Flame Awards, Special Citations, Female Executive Awards at Posthumous Awards.
Si Hangzhou Asian Games jiu-jitsu gold medal winner Meggie Ochoa, nagretiro na kamakailan, ang tatanggap sa Lifetime Achievement Award.
Ibibigay kina Filipina tennis star Alex Eala, Agatha Wong ng wushu at sa 77-year-old wonder at ultramarathoner Erlinda Ogsimer ang Flame Awards na iginagawad sa mga female sports icons na naging simbolo ng kanilang mga sports.
Bibigyan din ng rekognisyon sina Para athletes Agustina Bantiloc (archery), Cendy Asusano (javelin throw), Citadel Mendoza (chess), Andrea Estrella (obstacle course), Edilyn De Asis (dancesport), Marydol Pamati-an (powerlifting), Achelle ‘Jinky’ Guion (powerlifting) at Angel Otom (swimming).
