MANILA, Philippines — MTV Asia has announced the release of “Eric Clapton Unplugged… Over 30 Years Later,” an extended, remixed, and remastered edition of the legendary musician’s iconic performance from the Grammy and Emmy award-winning MTV “Unplugged” series. The 90-minute special will premiere on Feb. 18, 7 p.m. (Manila time) on MTV Live.

Originally recorded in 1992 at Bray Studios in Windsor, England, Clapton’s “MTV Unplugged” session is widely regarded as one of the most memorable performances in the series’ history. In this enhanced version, viewers will gain exclusive insights as Clapton reflects on the inspiration behind specific songs and moments, with behind-the-scenes footage seamlessly integrated with the original performance.

The intimate set showcased Clapton’s first-time acoustic arrangements of some of his biggest hits, including Layla and Tears in Heaven. He also paid homage to the blues legends who shaped his sound, performing classics such as Before You Accuse Me, originally recorded by Bo Diddley, and Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out, first recorded by Bessie Smith.

Following the performance, Clapton’s Unplugged live album, released in August 1992, became a massive success, selling over 26 million copies worldwide and earning its place as the best-selling live album of all time.

A three-time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame — as a solo artist and as a member of both The Yardbirds and Cream — Clapton has sold over 100 million records globally, making him one of the best-selling musicians in history.

“Eric Clapton Unplugged… Over 30 Years Later” coincides with the release of Clapton’s latest studio album, Meanwhile, available now.
