‘CCP Pasinaya’ returns with more venues and performances

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The “CCP Pasinaya Open House Festival” is back with an expanded reach across Metro Manila on Feb. 1 to 2. With the theme “Para sa Lahat!”, this year’s edition becomes even more inclusive and accessible, making it the country’s largest multi-arts festival.

Venues include the CCP Complex (Front Lawn, Liwasang Kalikhasan, and Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez), Aliw Theater, Circuit Performing Arts Theater, Intramuros (Baluarte de San Diego and Fort Santiago), and the Metropolitan Theater (MET) in Manila, providing a vibrant showcase of Filipino culture.

CCP VP and artistic director Dennis Marasigan shared, “The CCP continuously creates opportunities for Filipino artists to showcase their talents while giving the public free access to performances that inspire and transform lives.” At the CCP Front Lawn, audiences can enjoy dazzling dance performances starting at 8 a.m., including a flash mob by Barangay Ukulele.

Literary arts take center stage at Liwasang Kalikhasan, with groups like Kapisanan ng Diwa at Panitik and Sintalab bringing their passion for storytelling. Meanwhile, Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez hosts screenings of Gawad Alternatibo and Cinemalaya films, as well as plays like Tanghalang Pilipino’s Pingkian Isang Musikal.

This year introduces “Palaro,” a new festival component celebrating Philippine landmarks and mythology through live game demos and tournaments at the TIG Basement. Aliw Theater also joins with world-class performances from Ballet Philippines, Bayanihan, and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra.

Circuit Makati comes alive with performances by Himig Rizalia, the Sandiwang Kayumanggi Folk Dance Troupe, and Bungkos Palay Performing Arts Foundation. At the MET, audiences can look forward to acclaimed acts from the Philippine Madrigal Singers and Alice Reyes Dance Philippines.

Intramuros becomes a hub for young Filipino talent, with UST Salinggawi and other youth groups showcasing their skills at Fort Santiago and Baluarte de San Diego. The festival also partners with museums for its “Paseo Museo” component, offering hop-on, hop-off tours and performances in various art forms.

Established in 2005, “CCP Pasinaya” has evolved into a celebration of Filipino cultural heritage, adopting a See-All-You-Can and Pay-What-You-Can scheme to make the arts accessible.
