MANILA, Philippines — PBA superstars Scottie Thompson and Jayson Castro, and Paris Olympics veteran Maxine Esteban of fencing know what’s needed to keep Philippine sports on high ground.

“Sobrang need natin ng support sa sports, not just basketball, not just the Gilas but all kinds of sports na talagang tutulungan natin para umunlad,” said Thompson.

The former MVP in the PBA strongly believes that kind of support can be provided by 1Pacman party-list first nominee Milka Romero, who co-owns the Capital 1 team in the PVL with her sister Mandy.

Castro agrees by saying 1Pacman delivered as promised under the leadership of Milka’s father, former House Deputy Speaker Mikee Romero.

“Maganda ‘yung programa nila para sa mga kabataan sa sports. Isa rin sila sa tumulong sa akin nung PBL days ko so ‘yun ‘yung give back ko sa kanila kasi sila rin naman yung unang tumulong sa akin,” he said.

Esteban, a Fil-Ivorian, is extending her hand to 1Pacman.

“It’s really my advocacy. Ipinangako ko talaga sa sarili ko na I want to be relevant in Philippine sports and really to help athletes here in the Philippines.”
