Go extends financial assistance to Bacoor fire victims
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go and his Malasakit Team on Monday provided assistance to fire victims in Bacoor, Cavite, in coordination with Rep. Lani Revilla and Mayor Strike Revilla.
In a speech delivered during the aid distribution in Barangay Zapote, Go stressed the importance of resilience and solidarity in overcoming adversity.
“My fellowmen, don’t lose hope. Material things can be replaced and we can help you obtain them again if we work together. Money can be earned back, but not a lost life,” Go told the fire victims.
As a principal author and co-sponsor of the Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act of 2021, Go continues to push for the enhancement of the BFP’s capability.
The law aims to modernize the country’s firefighting equipment, hire additional personnel and implement specialized training programs to ensure timely and efficient responses to fire emergencies.
Go thanked his fellow public officials – Cavite Gov. Athena Tolentino, Vice Gov. Shernan Haro, Board Members Ram Revilla, Edwin Malvar and Rafael Paterno III and Vice Mayor Rowena Bautista Mendiola – for helping their constituents.
Mayor Revilla thanked Go for continuously supporting the people of Bacoor.
Go and his team provided assistance to 216 families displaced by the fire. Each family received grocery packs, water containers, snacks, mattresses, vitamins, masks, shirts, fans, basketballs and volleyballs.
Select beneficiaries received shoes, mobile phones, bicycles and watches.
As chairman of the Senate committee on health, Go highlighted the importance of the Malasakit Centers program, which he initiated to ensure that disadvantaged Filipinos can avail themselves of medical assistance being offered by the government.
