It is admirable how Nadine Samonte chooses to see the good in life in every situation that feels so exhausting for others. She would rather focus on the positive than be stuck in difficult memories that can bind her to the bad times.
The actress became a trending topic on social media late last year after a system glitch that caused her name to disappear from the guest list of one GMA affair.
Nadine didn’t have any seat at the venue despite giving her RSVP to the event coordinator. She was left with no choice but to sit at the back of the room where there were free seats and there was barely anyone there.
It was the same context of the skit we had with Nadine when she made a guest appearance on GMA’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” which she found amusing. She was game acting out the scene with me, saying that she had already moved on from that experience.
“Actually, because of what happened, it created a noise, I’ve become more popular. That’s why, there’s always a reason for everything,” said Nadine, who is in the cast of the GMA drama series “Forever Young.”
Nadine is setting a good example of how we can respond to a situation with a positive mindset. She knows that no one cannot choose what is going to happen in life but one can always choose to be positive in whatever situation. This positive outlook reflects her aura of living a stress-free life.
“We need to get rid of stress. It’s hard but you have to choose (to be positive) so you’ll always be looking young,” enthused the Sparkle artist.
“Just take deep breaths and say to yourself, ‘Umalis ka d’yan stress,’” she added.
Another stress buster for Nadine is collecting Molly dolls that she adores for their cuteness. “Parang bata siya na very class, very feminine, very elegant. Ganun ‘yung tingin ko (sa dolls).”
Online bashers accused her of copying fellow Kapuso artist Marian Rivera who is also into collecting Molly dolls.
However, Nadine said she initially had no idea that Marian had also been collecting. In fact, it was only when she came across Marian’s videos showing her collection that she learned that they share the same interest in Royal Mollies.
“I texted her right away because I was looking for some Royal Mollies that she has. She has this Royal Molly that’s hard to find. And then she gave me the contact details of the supplier and she said, ‘Happy collecting, Nadz!’ She’s so happy for me.”
She continued, “So, I’m just curious why people hate me so much for it, that I am copying. But I realized, it’s still publicity. Bahala sila. Basta ako, I’ll do whatever I like, and I love whatever I have.”
In “Forever Young,” Nadine translates on the small screen the extraordinary kind of love a mother gives to her child. It’s no secret that Nadine is a loving, supportive mom to her three kids Heather, Titus, and Harmony with her husband Richard Chua.
“I play Juday, the mom of Rambo Agapito (played by Euwenn Mikael) who has panhypopituitarism, a condition that slows down his growth and keeps his childlike appearance. I support him in whatever he wants to do in life except his desire to enter politics. Still, I love him so much, and I take good care of him. Ganoon rin ako sa mga anak ko, sobra ‘yung pagmamahal ko na kulang na lang ay ayoko silang malayo sa akin,” she said.
Asked if she would want to remain forever young, Nadine responded in the negative, saying that she wanted to experience the beauty of growing old and the joy of living regardless of the circumstances.
