Hello 2025: Celeb takeaways from 2024 to start the new year

To mark the end of 2024, let me share 24 celebrity quotes I gathered in the past year. Let’s keep that “Hello Dolly” vibe this 2025.

Vilma Santos: “What makes me angry is when people promise and they don’t deliver. I’m a confrontational person. Once I snap, brace yourself.”

Cesar Montano: “Pati ako nagulat na friends na lahat ng moms ng mga anak ko. Only God made it possible. I pray for all the moms of my kids  because if they are okay, so will my kids be.”

Eugene Domingo: “Upstaging each other is a thing of the past. ‘Collab’ is the way to go.”

Martin Nievera: “I lost a lot of momentum in my career during the first two years of my break-up with Pops. I stayed true by admitting that I was to blame for it all.

“Time away from my sons Robin and Ram was killing me, too, so taking pride and ego out of the playing field by telling the truth of all my sins helped me learn a new talent. It’s called ‘bouncing back.’”

Pops Fernandez: “There’s nothing wrong with being single. What matters is our heart is full.”

Aga Muhlach: “There’s one role I’ve always wanted to play. In fact, I already have a concept for the story. I want to play an old gay man who has retired from being a stand-up comic. So people will know his struggles growing old alone and feeling left out.”

Michael Cinco: “The fashion battle between Heart (Evangelista) and Pia (Wurtzbach) is truly a spectacle of two iconic style forces, each with their own unique flair. Pia’s style is classic and sophisticated with a modern twist. Heart’s style is a masterclass in high-fashion artistry. It’s not a competition — it’s a celebration of two powerful women who each define fashion in their own remarkable ways.”

Julia Barretto: “Controversies don’t define us as actors. It’s what we become after we rise above the controversies that matter.”

Judy Ann Santos: “During my younger years, I would shoot many movies at the same time. But now I’ve realized that it’s unhealthy for my career to spread myself too thin. It’s also unfair to the producer and the fans if I don’t give my undivided attention to a project. So ‘lagare’ is a no-no for me already.”

Boy Abunda: “It’s ironic that I’ve been in the entertainment industry for so long, but it’s only now that I’ve thought of music as a tool to tell our stories. Songs have a sense of permanence. I want the EP to be my legacy to the LGBTQ+ community. I am not a professional composer, but I know the joys and pains of being gay. I know how it is to pray. I know how it is to be discriminated against. So, ang baon ko while writing the songs were the stories of the LGBTQ+ community and my own personal journey.”

Ricky Davao: “If I work with a ham actor, in a diplomatic way, I share things with him/her, hoping they would understand and inspire them to do better.”

Sid Lucero: “I used to have  an anger management  problem. But as I matured, I realized that the world is bigger than my ego. It must be IQ over EQ. In a way, my daughter made me mellow. Fatherhood has a way of taming men because you realize that what you do trickles down to the next generation.”

Ruru Madrid: “Bianca (Umali) and I started our relationship when we were already celebrities, so we know how the industry works and what we need to do. Whatever project we do, we will be each other’s No. 1 fan.”

Paulo Avelino: “I would rather have a perfect partner than a perfect career because when you are with the right person, everything else will follow.”

Kylie Verzosa: “Money is a major factor in a relationship, but it’s not the most important part. Don’t marry for money. You must not rely entirely on a man to sustain you.”

Tom Rodriguez: “Moving on required time, self-reflection and acceptance. My advice to others is to embrace your feelings, lean on your support system, and engage in activities that fulfill you. It’s about progress, not perfection.”

Barbie Forteza: “The kind of love I have for David (Licauco) did not happen instantly. As our friendship evolved, our bond became solid. I’m sort of his mentor. I guide him. I like how he does not take advantage of me. He cares for me, but he does not flirt with me. There’s no malice at all between us.”

David Licauco: “Barbie (Forteza) is girlfriend material. Of course, it would be ideal if we were really a couple, but I respect her relationship with Jak (Roberto). People wonder why we have chemistry even if we are not in love with each other. That’s the beauty of our love team. We make the audience ‘believe.’”

Benjie Paras: “Whenever my son Kobe is in a relationship, he gdoesn’t fool around. I tell him to give love his all and if he gets brokenhearted, it will heal and make him stronger.”

Marc Leviste: “I’m not good at maintaining friendships with an ex. However, my feelings for Kris (Aquino) are unique and extra special. My heart treasures the memories we shared. I’m extremely fortunate to have been given the chance to take care of Kris, love her, and be loved by her.”

Moira de la Torre: “We must be unapologetic when we choose ourselves. Self-love is not a selfish thing.”

Albie Casiño: “If my girl cheats on me, it’s her fault and not the guy’s. I don’t lay hands on a woman, so I will just get out of the situation. I will put it this way: ‘We didn’t break up. I’m up, she’s down.’”

Jerald Napoles: “Living together with Kim secured our relationship. It  made us realize that love is not always a fairy tale. But for me, marriage seals the bond. Even if parang mag-asawa na kami ni Kim, we want to make it official.”

Angeli Khang: “When people dismiss me as just a sexy star, instead of getting offended, it serves as a challenge for me to show them that I have serious acting chops.”
