NCT Dream vows to return complete for ‘The Dream Show 4’
MANILA, Philippines — The South Korean boy band NCT Dream once again fulfilled the dreams of their fans, also known as PH Czennies, after they recently delivered high-powered shows during their “The Dream Show 3: DREAM( )SCAPE in Manila” at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena.
The STAR was able to attend Day 1 of the music gig, presented by Live Nation Philippines.
Without Renjun, the other members, Mark, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, and Jisung, descended on stage through an elevated platform and walked toward the center to launch the heart-thumping BOX as the opening salvo.
Before their grand entrance, which was accentuated with a blast of pyrotechnics and multi-hued lights, the crowd, holding their light sticks, lit up the arena in green as they awaited for their K-pop idols to pop up in front of them.
Accompanied by their backup dancers, the boys flaunted their dancing and vocal flair in succeeding songs, such as 119, SOS and GO. A sea of red lights glowed for 119 and SOS before turning blue for GO.
Sweaty and catching their breaths following their explosive acts, they introduced themselves one after another and cheerfully welcomed the Czennies to the show.
The group expressed how they missed their legion of fans since the last time they graced the MOA Arena stage in April 2023 for their “The Dream Show 2” concert.
Chenle explained that he was not able to join the guys from their last year’s gig because he was not feeling well. But he made sure to make up for his lost time by giving all his energy away for the night.
He shared through an interpreter, “Finally, I’m here. Nice to meet you, guys. Well, all the energy I’m saving up (I will use it). I came back from a short break, so I have a lot of energy to share. I promise to give you all this energy tonight to all of you. Are you guys ready? Let’s go!” Of course, the audience was ready as they chorused with NCT Dream for Poison and Drippin’.
Following a brief break, the boys returned to stage in their newly changed outfits to mount a hypnotizing performance of Arcade and jumped around in Bungee.
They also played minigames with the eventgoers, showing “cute” and “sexy” gestures that thrilled the fans.
Mark then announced that they have a new single coming out called Rains in Heaven.
In the next part of the program, the male K-pop artists got to relax a bit. They executed the heart-fluttering Walk With You, Never Goodbye, Breathing, and UNKNOWN, coupled with falling snow as a video backdrop and bursting confetti, which created a dreamy ambiance.
There was another pause, and they got back on stage in colorful attire, carrying tiny bags, and enlivened the crowd with Tangerine Love, Yogurt Shake, Pretzel (?), and an H.O.T. cover of Candy.
Mark checked on the audience, saying, “Are you having a good time so far? Your energy today is amazing… I mean, you, guys, are killing it already. But the next section we’re gonna party even harder. You, guys, ready?”
He also asked the other members if they were done changing their clothes. The others were seen taking off their jackets, displaying their toned arms. The scene sent the audience screaming over what they had witnessed.
“It’s time for us to jump and have fun. Ready na kayo? Tara na!” Haechan told the crowd, just as the confetti rained down on stage while they gave their all in Fireflies, Hello Future, and Broken Melodies.
The Czennies continued to match their energy as the NCT Dream members carried out their Skateboard, ISTJ, and Smoothie acts.
Clad in blue robes, adorned with cute patches, and dressed in their white sleepwear, they played Dive Into You, snapped a photo with the crowd, took a moment to express their gratitude to concert attendees, and jumped on to BINI’s “Eyy ka muna eyy!” trend.
“Eyy! Manila, can you see my hair?” Chenle asked the audience, referring to his heart-shaped strand of hair. “This is for you. I remember earlier, when I started, I told you something, that I (would use) all my energy just for you guys.
“Eyy! I think I kept my promise ‘cause I did my best. I lost my voice. Because of you, guys, I had so much fun. And because of you, salamat po sa nakapakagandang oras na we spent together and I really wish I was here in ‘The Dream Show 2.’ (Shall) we comeback on ‘The Dream Show 4’? Well, see you then. Thank you, Manila.”
Haechan, as well, thanked the spectators for the wonderful time. “Eyy! This is the last stop of our Asian tour. Sana napasaya kayong lahat sa oras na pagsasama natin. Next, we will come back with Renjun. Wait for us, babalik kami. Mahal kita. Salamat po. Eyy!”
It was earlier announced that Renjun wouldn’t be able to come due to “health reasons.”
Jisung, for his part, lauded the audience, saying, “I had so much fun because Manila Czennies, you are such a great crowd to be with. Like what the other members said earlier, we will be back with our ‘The Dream Show 4’ to complete the 7Dream with Renjun.”
Jaemin and Mark, who just celebrated their birthdays on Aug. 13 and Aug. 2, respectively, were pleased when the Czennies chanted a happy birthday song to them.
“You, guys, did it again,” declared Mark. “Thank you so much for being an amazing audience, Manila. I personally have a lot of good memories of Manila. All thanks to you, guys. So, I really appreciate you, guys, every time I’m here. You, guys, are amazing and you proved it again today… Thank you, guys, for being safe, for being so energetic, I’m saying the same thing all over again.”
They rendered their parting song, Like We Just Met, a heartfelt track that talks about forever, then walked around the stage to bid farewell, bowed down before the crowd and uttered the words, “Thank you and mahal kita.”
