Vice Ganda called as 'sir' resurfaced on social media
MANILA, Philippines — A video of Vice Ganda has resurfaced on the Internet because the LGBTQIA+-waiter issue in Cebu trended online.
Jude Bacalso, a former television host and an LGBTQIA+ member, was heavily criticized for rash behavior inside a Cebu restaurant after a waiter allegedly misgendered the ex-TV host and called Jude "sir."
Bacalso has since apologized for the incident after getting heavy criticism from social media users.
In Vice's resurfaced video that came from an episode of his noontime show "It's Showtime," it can be seen that Vice was called "sir" by a contestant, making his co-hosts burst into laughter.
He then jokingly walked out after he was called "sir" for the second time.
Vice then said that he doesn't care how he gets addressed.
“Ako, kahit ano. ‘Pag tinawag mo akong ‘ma’am,' hindi ako mao-offend. ‘Pag tinawag mo akong ‘sir,' hindi rin ako mao-offend. Hindi ko nire-recognize ang sarili ko… Either. Non-binary ang gender ko,” he said.
“Kahit sa mga articles, ‘pag ini-interview ako, ‘Ano pong pronoun ang gusto n’yong gamitin sa inyo, she po ba or he?’ Ako, personally, sasabihin ko, I don’t really mind. Kung ano pong gusto n’yo. Hindi ako mao-offend kung gamitan n’yo ako ng ‘he’ or ‘she',” he added.
