Sue Ramirez remains a favorite of producers and we know why
Talent is one thing but character is definitely another.
After actress Sue Ramirez’s theater debut last July 6 for The Sandbox Collective’s “Little Shop of Horrors,” here she is with an upcoming movie, and a huge project that is yet to be announced. We had the opportunity to visit her when she had a look test for the latter in Marikina and we could see the twinkle in her eyes as she graciously narrated how she bagged multiple projects in showbiz.
Sue said she is more wide-eyed in embracing this landmark project, thanks to her preparations and exposure to theater which makes it so timely.
“Dahil trabaho ko ito, people really expect you to be this outgoing. Hindi ka na nahihiya pero mahiyain talaga ako! I have stage fright and dinadala ko lang talaga (sa) confidence palagi, but going through the process of here, there and having people believe in you and make sure na tama talaga lahat ng ginagawa mo kapag na-secure mo iyon, talagang nagiging confident ka. Na-improve ko talaga confidence ko sa teatro. I’m so grateful.”
Her theater stint will run until July 28 at the Maybank Theater, BGC, Taguig and she is telling us that the rest of the year is looking up. Good thing that her boyfriend, Mayor Javi Benitez, is so supportive of her career and dreams.
He even took the time to watch Sue twice on stage.
“He’s so supportive, he actually watched twice! Namakyaw ng tickets talaga! He watched with his friends and his whole family. Sobrang supportive niya sa journey ko na ito. Tuwang tuwa siya na nakikita niya na nag-e-enjoy ako,” said she.
Plans of slowing down are definitely not on the horizon, “as it should be,” she said.
“We’re both very young I’m just turning 28 next, next week and I never really expected that doors would open for me at this age, especially in theater. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance. So, ginalingan ko talaga.”
Speaking of doing her best, this again leads to a yet-to-be announced project this year. Sue will be on the big screen with the biggest names in showbiz and it is going to be a touching project. “Without having to read this script I said yes right away!” the actress said.
We’re not surprised with her casting because besides the talent that she puts in may it be with ABS-CBN, TV5 or APT, we hear good feedback not just about how prepared she is on set but also about how nice she is as a human being.
Production people told us that she never forgets the little gestures that lighten up the mood on set such as asking the team how they are, not forgetting the names of the crew, and the occasional food gesture us, Pinoys, love. Sue credits her mom for her upbringing.
She shared, “I am who I am because of the family that I have. I am who I am because of how they brought me up. Mommy ko talaga. I wouldn’t be who I am without the love and guidance of my family.”
Whenever we interview or interact with Sue, we can sense how natural she is as a person without a whiff of arrogance, given her stature in her career. Truly a gem in the industry.
