MANILA, Philippines — Veteran showbiz columnist Gorgy Rula reported that actor and director Manny Castañeda was found lifeless in his apartment after three days.
In his Pilipino Star Ngayon column, Gorgy said that the gay community is mourning for the loss of Manny because he died alone.
According to a report by ABS-CBN News, Manny passed away due to Congenital Heart Disease, Chronic Kidney Disease and Hypertension.
The actor's nephew Michael narrated that Castañeda's body was discovered when a tenant of his uncle's apartment went up to Manny's unit to pay the rent, but the director did not respond. The tenant then informed Michael's parents, who then found Manny lifeless.
Manny's funeral service will be in Sanctuarium Crematory in Quezon City.
Manny was part of the films "Oro Plata Mata" (1981), "Relasyon" (1982), "Bukas Luluhod Ang Mga Tala" (1984), "Tinik Sa Dibdib" (1985) and "Sana'y Wala Nang Wakas" (1986).
He directed the movies "Guwapings Dos" (1993), "Ging Gang Gooly Giddiyap: I Love You Daddy" (1994), "Kailanman" (1996), "Sa Kabilugan ng Buwan" (1997), "April May June" (1998), "May Isang Pamilya" (1999) and "Shame" (2000).
