Kris Aquino to Ogie Diaz: 'Hindi ka mean sa mga tao'
MANILA, Philippines — Kris Aquino and her son James, more popularly known as Bimby, remarked on entertainment host Ogie Diaz's fairness and credibility as they sat down with the latter for his latest YouTube vlog.
It was the second time this year that Kris sat down for an interview; the last one was with Boy Abunda during her birth month last February. Kris is currently in California, United States, seeking treatment for her auto-immune diseases.
"Kasi ang gusto ko sa'yo, Ogie, hindi ka mean sa mga tao," Kris said, after she suggested that they could do a version of "The View" if she will be given the chance to grace Philippine TV again.
Ogie asked her if she would go back to TV, and she replied that she would choose to go behind the scenes for health reasons, but later on said they could do a "The View" version where they could talk about anything on the spot.
"The View" was created by American broadcast journalist Barbara Walters in 1997 and features notable hosts, including Whoopi Goldberg, as they share their thoughts and opinion on the day's issues.
Bimby, meanwhile, said that Ogie is fair. He arrived at this thought because he catches up on Philippine showbiz via Ogie's YouTube vlog.
"Tito Ogie, you're very fair. That's why I watch you e. Kasi fair na fair ka," Bimby said.
Kris proceeded to tell the viewers and her son about her long-lasting friendship with Ogie, which dates back to the early 1990s when she was just starting in showbiz.
Kris said that Ogie could not forget her gesture when the latter celebrated his birthday in the early 1990s. He was then a starting reporter for a fan magazine.
"Nag-birthday siya (Ogie) and it was the same day as the birthday of your Tita Sharon (Cuneta), and the only celebrities that went to his birthday was me and your Tito Robin (Padilla). And I think he never forgot that," Kris said.
Kris was just 19 then. She recalled doing the promos for the movie 1990 "Pido Dida," with the late Rene Requiestas.
"I think we were there when you were just beginning. Now na you are Ogie, I don't think you forgot that.
"That's why sinabi ko kay Bimb, you have to be nice to everyone. Because when they were young, even when they get old and they're very successful, they're not gonna forget," Kris said.
Her son countered by saying, "Even if they don't become successful, you have to be nice naman e kasi tao sila."
Kris agreed, but added that she said that for context.
"Yes, Bimb, but kasi look, he could be mean to me already but he didn't forget. That's what I'm trying to say. Do not choose who you'll be nice to because you never know what will happen," she explained.
Kris also talked about how she values people who are sincere, and counts Ogie among them.
"I value people, whether kaharap ko or nakatalikod ako, nakikita ko man o hindi, ka-text ko man o hindi. Sincere sila sa akin and naramdaman ko 'yun sa'yo.
"Congratulations, Og, kasi lalo kang nagtagumpay and lalong tumunog at nag-ingay ang pangalan mo, and that's because of credibility," Kris said.
