MANILA, Philippines — Even Kaila Estrada didn't know her "Can't Buy Me Love" character Bettina was such a central figure in the show's closing episodes.
The series headlined by Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano ended with the revelation that Bettina was the unexpected killer of the story, something Kaila had no knowledge of entering the final days of shooting.

"Nagulat din ako," Kaila admitted. "It was quite an interesting experience since we did not know what would happen until a few days before we shot the ending. I did not know Bettina was the killer."
Kaila even shared the revelation was such a secret that the cast didn't even have a copy of the final script during the finale week.

"We would show up sa taping and ibibigay 'yung sequences that day at doon na rin namin babasahin. It was a completely different way of working, and I felt it added to the suspense," she continued. "Naging sobrang raw din ng emotions ng lahat at high stress. I think it worked well."
The actress said portraying Bettina, a middle child, struck a chord and she believes such a connection resonated and provided comfort to some viewers.
"I guess with her last monologue, I can relate to some of her lines, being a middle child myself," Kaila said, noting she has older and younger siblings through her parents John Estrada and Janice de Belen.
Kaila also shared she was amused seeing tweets of audiences relating to Bettina and her final monologue "healed their inner child."
"It feels so good, and it is something that I'm proud of, and I'm so happy to be given that opportunity to do that," Kaila ended.
