Park Min Young, one of South Korea’s most sought-after actresses, showed she’s a woman of many talents during her first-ever fan meeting event in Manila.

Min Young, notable for her roles in popular K-dramas such as “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?,” “Her Private Life,” and most recently, “Marry My Husband,” delighted her Filipino fans, fondly called MY Beans, with her first visit to the country.

“I’ve always wanted to come here to the Philippines for you, guys, but I’m a little too late. So, I’m really sorry about that. But now that I’m here, I wanted to say thank you so much for your love and support always,” Min Young addressed fans during her press conference at a mall in Taguig City before her fanmeet proper.

Min Young wasted no time and effort in connecting and getting closer to her fans with her intimate fanmeet event dubbed “My Brand New Day In Manila” on May 12, at the SM North EDSA Skydome, presented by Rafaella Films and Entertainment Productions and CDM Entertainment.

“Kumusta kayo? Ako po si Park Min Young,” the 38-year-old actress, exuding radiance in her mini-blue dress, greeted her fans who eagerly waited to see the actress in the flesh.

Filipino MY Beans got to know Min Young more in a series of mini-games and Q&A segments.

Lucky fans had excitement visibly planted on their faces, including two fanboys who had the chance to get up close and personal with Min Young on stage. In particular, one fanboy got to recreate a photo of Min Young and her leading man Na In Woo from their hit series “Marry My Husband,” happily rating the K-drama star’s beauty at 100/10 in person.

The other fan, meanwhile, related that Min Young helped him get through the pandemic by watching her dramas.

“It’s very surreal because I’ve been watching her during the pandemic. And she inspired me to be happy because I was so sad during the  pandemic,” said the fanboy who scored a polaroid photo with Min Young.

“’I’m really grateful to have such a fan like him. You know as an actor, to have this kind of fan is a (blessing),” said Min Young through an interpreter.

Meanwhile, an international fan also moved Min Young after revealing that she flew all the way from China to see the actress and would attend her next fanmeets in other countries as well. The dedicated fan was the recipient of the DIY eco-friendly bag designed on the spot by Min Young.

Aside from the gentle smiles and warm hugs she gave to lucky fans, Min Young reciprocated her fans’ unwavering love and support with personalized gifts for MY Beans, which included notebooks, pens, and photo cards, among others.

Even if it was just her first time visiting the country, Min Young impressed her fans with her Tagalog skills when she spoke her recently-learned words, “Totoo ba?”

“I just learned it recently, I thought I like the sound of it, it’s so cute,” Min Young shared during the press conference.

She repeated the Tagalog words in jest when host Sunny Kim remarked that she kept getting prettier after every outfit change during the fanmeet.

“Ako lang to!” Min Young later uttered another Tagalog phrase taught by the host as the actress’ response whenever she’d receive compliments.

During the Q&A segment, Min Young revealed she’s a fan of K-pop supergroup BTS, adding that she is supportive of the groups in the K-pop industry in general.

One might agree that Min Young could also pass as a K-pop idol after showcasing her singing and dancing skills with her cover performances of BLACKPINK Jennie’s You & Me, and (G)-IDLE Yuqi’s Bad Liar, an OST from her drama “Marry My Husband.”

Min Young also treated her fans to a performance of Miley Cyrus’ Flowers after bidding farewell by reading aloud a letter she dedicated to the Filipino MY Beans.

“When I feel like flopping down, you lift me up. When I feel dried by my emotions, you make me laugh. It’s always my fans who make me want to do my job better,” said Min Young.

While Min Young has never been to a vacation spot in the country, the K-drama actress chose scuba diving in Bohol over playing golf in Manila.

Why? “You know, I just heard that Manila is too hot to play around,” said the actress, making the audience laugh.

“You, guys, are the one who told me that,” she added, referring to the country’s extreme summer heat.

Despite an acting career spanning almost 20 years, and starring in back-to-back hit dramas, Min Young humbly believes that the highlight of her career is “yet to come.”

“I still have a lot of stories to tell, roles to play, and messages to deliver,” she stated, promising to reunite with her fans and become a better actress in her future projects.
