Arci Muñoz explains the reason behind her evolving looks
Arci Muñoz is dressed to the nines in off-shoulder denim and white mini-skirt, and sported a ‘Hime’ or the Japanese princess hairdo with big doll-eyed contact lenses and bright pink lipstick.

Call her Filipina Aegyo Queen!

Aegyo means cute in Korean and long before South Korean series and music became the mainstream norm in the Philippines, Arci Muñoz has already been deep into the fandoms and scenes of Korean culture and entertainment.

Just recently, we caught up with the actress at the opening of KLife, a Korean merchandise store selling fandom toys and cosmetics in BGC in Taguig.

Arci was dressed to the nines in her off-shoulder denim and white mini skirt as she sported a “Hime” or the Japanese princess hairdo with big doll-eyed contact lenses and bright pink lipstick.

Since childhood, Arci told us, that she has been very experimental and playful when it comes to preferences and interests but she had to scale back because of her strict parents.

Aegyo means cute in Korean and long before South Korean series and music became the mainstream norm in the Philippines, Arci has already been deep into the fandoms and scenes of Korean culture and entertainment.

“These are childhood aspirations na hindi ko nagawa kasi my parents are very strict. Yung bawal kami mag-cutex na black, mga ganon. Daddy ko nakabantay talaga,” she shared.

Also, her showbiz leading lady bookings were also one of the factors why she had to look as what she calls, “normal na tao.” It was not until she joined her rock band Philia wherein she slowly incorporated how she would love to express herself.

And she is totally owning it now, saying, “Ngayon lang talaga ako nagka-chance na i-explore iyong mga paborito ko na bagay nung bata ako like anime, like yung pagkulay ng buhok.”

Arci, who has been a favorite leading lady with titles like “Pasion de Amor,” “Magpahanggang Wakas,” “Mga Nagbabagang Bulaklak” under her belt, shared that she is not afraid to change her look now even if mainstream entertainment shows are looking for the long black hair and fair skin prototype.

“Never because it really makes me happy. I’m just expressing myself and for me, kung nakaka-inspire ako sa mga kagaya ko na OK lang to be yourself then bakit ako mahihiya? Bakit ako matatakot? Masaya lang ako,” she explained.

Also, she can always switch back to that leading lady default look. She said, “Kapag may mga show, kailangan maging normal na tao.”

Arci has been the subject of online amazement with fans constantly on their toes on how she would look next. And being the creative that she is — in music, her craft and as a person in general — she encouraged her fans to step out of the box and not be afraid to be themselves: “Gawin mo lang kung anong nagpapasaya sa iyo at gusto mo.”
