MANILA, Philippines — Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine gave his thoughts on a video of The Rolling Stones vocalist Mick Jagger grooving along to the band's 2011 hit song "Moves Like Jagger."

Last month, Jagger posted on his social media accounts a video of himself dancing to the Maroon 5 track being covered by a bar band named Splash.

Levine recently appeared on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," where he gave his reactions upon seeing the "pretty awesome" video.

"It's really surreal. It's just one of those things where you're like, 'Oh my... how is this possible this is happening?' and it's many years later too," Levine said.

After Fallon played a snippet of Jagger's video on the show, Levine admitted he envied the bar band that was performing and honestly expected more people would have sent him the video.

Fallon then asked about the background behind "Moves Like Jagger," and Levine shared that the initial hook during the songwriting was the concept of a female singer singing the line, "He got the moves like Jagger."

Levine, however, suggested changing "he" to "I," attributing it to having a confidence or swag like Jagger himself.

The singer also talked about Maroon 5 releasing new music soon, and that for the first time in 13 years, he was more involved in the songwriting process.

"I'll make sure that all of the ideas come from either myself or the band. We're not gonna have any real co-writes, the ideas are coming straight from the nucleus of Maroon 5, which is going to make it sound a lot like it did in the very beginning," Levine said.

After several years in high school performing as Kara's Flowers, Maroon 5 debuted in 2001. The following year in 2002, the band released the album "Songs About Jane," featuring the singles "This Love," "She Will Be Loved," "Sunday Morning," "Harder to Breathe" and "Must Get Out."

Since then, Maroon 5 has churned out popular hits, including "Won't Go Home Without You," "Sugar," "Misery," "One More Night," "Memories," "Makes Me Wonder," "Give A Little More," "Maps," "Animals," "Daylight," "Never Gonna Leave This Bed," "Love Somebody" and last year's "Middle Ground."

The band has also collaborated with several artists like Wiz Khalifa on "Payphone," Rihanna on "If I Never See Your Face Again," SZA on "What Lovers Do," Cardi B on "Girls Like You" and Christina Aguilera on "Moves Like Jagger." — Video from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon's YouTube channel
