MANILA, Philippines — Actors Randall Park, Elijah Wood, Yvette Nicole Brown, and Ashley Johnson lead the voice cast of an upcoming animated series based on the popular mobile game "Among Us."
The show is a project by the independent studio behind the game Innersloth, animated studio Titmouse and CBS Eye Animation Productions, although a formal distributor has not been announced yet.
A logline for the series follows the "Among Us" game's premise, "Members of your crew have been replaced by an alien shapeshifter intent on causing confusion, sabotaging the ship, and killing everyone. Root out the 'Impostor' or fall victim to its murderous designs."
Park, Wood, Brown and Johnson have been tapped to voice different colored members of the crew, each with their own ranks and character details.
Red (Park) is the Captain of The Skeld, who is a blowhard people-pleaser with leadership and confidence, even though he sometimes falls short.
Spineless corporate shill Orange (Brown) handles human resorces by eliminating redundance redundantly and is likely to fire people over email.
Chief of Security Purple (Johnson) is a wetblanket built with safety, sarcasm and suspicion, the latter probably because of trust issues.
Green (Wood) is the unpaid intern who does whatever they are told, gets paid in pizza, and is just happy to be involved.
The original "Among Us" game was launched in 2018 but grew in popularity during the pandemic. By the fourth quarter of 2020, the game had over 500 million monthly active users, over four billion YouTube views, and over 1.22 billion viewing sessions on Twitch.
In October that year, "Among Us" was the No. 1 game on Google Play in 66 countries and on iOS in 55 countries. It also made the Top 100 in nearly every other country.
