MANILA, Philippines — Champion surfer Philmar Alipayo paid tribute to Jaclyn Jose, the mother of his partner Andi Eigenmann.
Philmar posted on his Instagram story a photo of Jaclyn with her Cannes Best Actress trophy.
"Mami-miss ka namin, lalo na ang mga bata. Salamat sa pagbuhos ng oras sa pag-aalaga at pagmamahal mo sa aming lahat," he wrote in Bisaya.
"Mamahalin ka naming lahat hangga’t magpakailanman," he added.
Andi revealed recently that her mother Jaclyn suffered a heart attack.
"I announce the untimely passing of my nanay Mary Jane Guck, better known as Jaclyn Jose at the age of 60 on the morning of March 2nd, 2024 due to myocardial infarction or a heart attack," Andi announced in a press conference earlier.
"We'd like to thank everyone who has since extended their prayers and condolences to us as our family is trying to come to terms with this unfortunate incident," she added.
Jaclyn starred in many films, including works by celebrated directors Lino Brocka and Chino Roño.
In 2016, she became the first Filipino to win the Best Actress Award at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival for her work in Brillante Mendoza's film "Ma'Rosa."
She has been a familiar face on Philippine TV by starring in popular dramas since the 1990s to the present.
Some of her dramas include "Mula Sa Puso," "Marimar," "Alyas Robinhood," among others. She was last seen as Chief Espinas in "FPJ's Batang Quiapo."
