'Masakit na paalam': Celebrities pay tribute to Jaclyn Jose
MANILA, Philippines — Celebrities paid their tribute to award-winning actress Jaclyn Jose after she was found lifeless in her Quezon City residence.
In their respective Instagram accounts, Kylie Padilla, Gardo Versoza, Ice Seguerra and Gladys Reyes posted photos of them with Jaclyn.
"YOU WILL BE MISSED," Kylie captioned her post.
"Mahal na mahal kita abe. Masakit na paalam. Magkwewentuhan pa tayo di ba," Gardo wrote.
Ice said that Jaclyn's passing is a huge loss to the industry.
Thank you for your kindness. Sobrang nakakalungkot," Ice said.
Napakalaking kawalan sa buong industriya," she added.
Gladys posted a video of her with Jaclyn behind-the-scenes of their movie "Apag."
Mamimiss namin ang nag-iisang Jacklyn Jose," she added.
Jaclyn's talent agency, PPL Entertainment Inc., released a statement shortly after the news broke out.
"It saddens us to inform everyone of the untimely passing of Miss Jaclyn Jose (real name Mary Jane Guck). More details will be shared as soon as they are available.
"The Guck and Eigenmann families are requesting for everyone to please pray for the eternal repose of Miss Jaclyn Jose and for them to be allowed the respect and privacy to mourn her passing, and navigate these difficult times," the statement ended.
In 2016, Jose became the first Filipino to win the Best Actress Award at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival for her work in Brillante Mendoza's film "Ma'Rosa."
Jose has been a familiar face on Philippine TV by starring in popular dramas since the 1990s to the present.
Some of her dramas include "Mula Sa Puso," "Marimar" and "Alyas Robinhood." She was last seen as Chief Espinas in "FPJ's Batang Quiapo."
