Anthony Jennings brushes off 'sapawan' issue between SnoRene, DonBelle
MANILA, Philippines — Anthony Jennings assured that he, Maris Racal, Belle Mariano and Donny Pangilinan are friends and they do not think about the "sapawan" issue brewing on social media regarding the popularity of either of their respective fandoms.
Jennings recently faced the press upon the invitation by his talent agency, Star Magic.
One of the questions asked during the huddle was his thoughts on some viewers' and social media users' remarks about his and Maris Racal's pairing, SnoRene, "outshining" the show's lead pair, DonBelle, or Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano.
SnoRene is the portmanteau of his character named Snoop and Maris' Irene. Snoop is the close friend of Donny's Bingo, while Irene is the half-sister of Caroline, played by Belle.
"Sa akin, hindi ko naman binabasa lahat 'yun e... May mga naririnig ako, may mga nagsasabi sa akin ng gano'n. Para sa akin, sabi ko kay Dons, ''Wag mo na pansinin 'yun 'tol.' Kasi kami magka-kaibigan kami talaga... Wala namang gano'n sa amin," said Anthony.
"'Yung casual (fans), siguro sila 'yung nagsasabi nu'n pero sa amin wala. Mahal namin ang isa't isa talaga. Wala kami 'yung pakiramdam na mabigat para sa isa't isa," he stressed.
Fans of SnoRene have been following their bickering, which he and Maris confirmed were mostly adlibs in an interview. Their recent misadventure centers on finding out if they are going to be parents via a hilarious scene involving a pregnancy test kit. The catch, however, both Snoop and Irene do not know if they indeed slept with each other one night after their drinking spree.
Fans could "ship" their preferred pairing, but Anthony pointed out that their show, "Can't Buy Me Love," would not be a hit if it were not for the collaborations among its cast.
"Gano'n naman talaga dapat e. Kailangan talaga mag-tulungan kayo doon. Alam niyo 'yung isang project, hindi pwedeng isa lang 'yung gumagawa. Kailangan nagtutulungan 'yun. Pano mo mabubuo 'yung story, 'di ba, nang kayo lang? Siyempre may mga connections yan, connected yan," Anthony said.
He said that there might be issues brewing on social media over the pairings, but for Anthony, he does not have any issues with the show's leads. In fact, he professes his admiration and love for Donny and Belle.
"Alam mo 'tol, wala akong masabi kina Dons. Si Donny ang laki ng in-improve niya talaga. Kita niyo naman ang layo ni Donny kay Bingo, and, of course, si Belle, matagal nang magaling si Belle.
"Sobrang nagpa-pasalamat ako na sila 'yung naka-trabaho ko. Ang gaan ng set namin, 'yung community namin. As in, lahat kami doon magka-kaibigan talaga. Wala akong masabi sa kanila. Sobrang love ko si Donny at si Belle," the actor said.
