Filipino comedian Red Ollero sets Netflix special in March
MANILA, Philippines — Local stand-up comedian Red Ollero will have a comedy special streaming on Netflix this March.
The streaming platform released an excerpt from the upcoming special "Red Ollero: Mabuhay Is A Lie" as teaser wherein the comedian jokes about foreign entertainers saying "Mabuhay!" during shows.
"Tuwang-tuwa tayo sa mga nagsasabi ng 'Mabuhay!,' dahil ba ginagago natin sila? Kasi hindi naman totoo 'yung 'mabuhay' eh, hindi naman 'yun greeting natin, 'di ba?" Ollero says in the clip.
To prove his point, Ollero asked if anyone in the audience greeted others with "Mabuhay!" and even pretended to do so while on a night out.
The comedy special is local production house Arcade Film Factory's first project for Netflix in partnership with comedy studio Solid Ok.

The show was originally recorded last August during three sold-out performances at San Juan's Teatrino Promenade, which Ollero noted then was the first time such an occurrence happened in one weekend in local stand-up history.
Netflix has showcased several stand-up specials in the past, including Dave Chappelle, Ricky Gervais, Kevin Hart, Trevor Noah, Wanda Sykes, John Mulaney, Chris Tucker, Ronny Chieng, Gabriel Iglesias and Filipino-American Jo Koy.
Ollero previously appeared in comedy films like "Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap," "Marupok AF," "Fruitcake," and will next be seen in Enrique Gil's comeback movie "I Am Not Big Bird." The comedian still makes rounds on the local stand-up circuit.
