From reindeer to royalty: Star Magic’s dazzling Christmas ball

MANILA, Philippines — ABS-CBN stars shone brightly as the sought-after Star Magic artists celebrated Christmas in style, all dressed up in their elegant and dashing yuletide looks at the recent Star Magical Christmas ball held at the Manila Marriott Hotel.

Kapamilya heartthrob Joshua Garcia channeled the Johnny Depp version of the iconic fictional candymaker Willy Wonka from the 2005 box-office film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Kapamilya hunks Gerald Anderson and Jake Cuenca also looked dapper in their holiday looks. Gerald sported a modern Santa look in a matching plaid blazer, while Jake donned his inner Eros of The Iron Heart, all dressed in black and white.

Social media went abuzz when the most talked-about Kapamilya loveteams walked together in their matching holiday outfits, with Can’t Buy Me Love stars Belle Mariano and Donny Pangilinan as the Christmas versions of Barbie and Ken, plus the Fractured tandem of Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin complementing each other with their green and white motif.

Love continued to whiff the yuletide air as more real-life celebrity couples spread the Christmas cheer on the white carpet. RK Bagatsing and Nag-Aapoy na Damdamin lead star Jane Oineza were fiery in their elegant looks, while Pira-Pirasong Paraiso actress Loisa Andalio stunned the crowd with her glamorous ballerina outfit along with her beau Ronnie Alonte in a standout red fur coat.

All eyes were on the Senior High lead star Andrea Brillantes, who stole the show with her gleaming white holiday wardrobe, adding an elegant spin on the Christmas parol. Also joining her were her fellow co-stars Kyle Echarri as a dashing reindeer, Juan Karlos and Daniela Stranner as Mr. and Mrs. Claus, Elijah Canlas with his Y2K take on the snowman, and Xyriel Manabat sparkling in gold with her Christmas lights attire.

Kapamilya P-pop groups showcased their chemistry on and off stage with BINI embracing the Snow White theme and BGYO donning everything Christmas.

Angelic icons then descended on the Star Magic white carpet with actress/popstar Maymay Entrata as a charming cherub and Chie Filomeno stunning as a Victoria’s Secret angel with matching large wings.

Entertainment royalty made its mark with Darren Espanto looking royal in his winter suit, Erik Santos regal in red, and veteran actor John Arcilla donning a king’s crown and sword. Host Robi Domingo added a bold touch as a nutcracker soldier.

Next-gen Kapamilya performers AC Bonifacio, Hadiyah Santos, and Angela Ken brought the winter wonderland, dressed up as Olaf, Anna, and Elsa from Disney’s Frozen. The night also featured rising actor Jeremiah Lisbo, who also looked dapper in plaid, and actress Barbie Imperial in an elegant green gown.

The night’s standout looks were recognized during the ball proper courtesy of Metro, with the DonBelle loveteam named as the night’s fan favorites, Chie as the Metro Showstopper, and BINI winning for the most creative costume winners.

Apart from the grand gathering of Star Magic artists, the Star Magical Christmas event was also an initiative to give back to the community, from initiating a toy drive for the benefit of Bantay Bata 163 and the Share the Magic effort, where each star extended their helping hand through their Share the Magic effort to support selected beneficiaries.

The event also recognized the loyal Star Magic artists, Desiree del Valle and Andrei Felix, Carla Guevarra-Laforteza, Igi Boy Flores and Jane Oineza, John “Sweet” Lapus, and Ketchup Eusebio.
