WATCH: Netflix releases 'Avatar: The Last Airbender' teaser trailer, premiere date
MANILA, Philippines — At long last, Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for its live-action adaptation of "Avatar: The Last Airbender," which will premiere in February next year.
The series is the live-action reimagining of a young Air Nomad named Aang who must master the four elements — Water, Earth, Fire, Air — as the prophesied Avatar who will restore balance to the world threatened by the Fire Nation.
The teaser begins with an image of Sozin's Comet streaking through the night sky as members of the Fire Nation attack a temple belonging to Air Nomads.
"Time... time is a funny thing," goes a voiceover, likely Aang's mentor Gyatso, played by Lim Kay Siu. Aang is played by Filipino-Canadian actor Gordon Comier.
"The past, the future, it all gets mixed up," the voiceover continues.

Fans of the original Nickelodeon animated series will be giddy seeing clips of Water Tribe siblings, Katara (Kiawentiio) and Sokka (Ian Ousley), encountering the iceberg Aang is trapped. The teaser trailer also gives a sneak peek of the Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation soliders saluting Prince Zuko (Dallas Liu) as his uncle, General Iroh (Paul Sun-Hyung Lee), looks on.
"There's only one way to keep it straight: Always remember who you are," continues the voiceover as clips of Fire Lord Ozai (Daniel Dae Kim) and Suki (Maria Zhang) with her fellow Kyoshi warriors are shown.
Aang finally appears in the teaser before the one-minute mark as quick cuts of Katara, Sokka, Iroh, Zuko and his younger sister Azula (Elizabeth Yu) are shown.
The trailer reaches its climax as Aang, Katara and Sokka are seen aboard the sky bison Appa when the trio caught a glimpse of the Winged Lemur Momo.
The emblems of the four nations are shown before the title card and official premiere date of the eight episodes are revealed. "Avatar: The Last Airbender" will premiere on the streaming platform on February 22, 2024. — Video from Netflix Philippines YouTube channel
