MANILA, Philippines — Korean actor Park Seo-joon is back in the Philippines after four years to interact with his Filipino fans.

Ahead of his fan meet at the Araneta Coliseum on October 14, Seo-joon sat down with several members of the media including Philstar.com.

He was asked about the steps he takes to better understand the characters of films or series he accepts. He quipped that he would need more time to explain his acting process so he summarized his response.

"When I receive a scenario or project, I first try to look and take in all the information I can get," Seo-joon said in Korean. "Once I see some missing spots, as an actor it's my responsibility to fill them [in] myself."

As an example, Seo-joon explained being handed a hypothetical role of a 35-year-old doctor, "As an actor... I [have] to try and think what processes or how he became this [kind of] doctor, or what he went through."

The actor was also asked what kind of advice he would give his 18-year-old self, having broken through the 2015 dramas "Kill Me, Heal Me" and "She Was Pretty," as well as the film "The Chronicles of Evil" from the same year at 27 years old.

"In those years I was having a very hard time because I really had a vague future, so my advice would be, 'Just do your best, everything will work out and never lose your old self,'" Seo-joon said.

This year is a big year for Seo-joon, having appeared in the films "Dream" and "Concrete Utopia," the latter selected as the South Korean entry at the 2024 Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film. He has two other projects set for release, "The Marvels" and the Netflix series "Gyeongseong Creature."

The Korean star has been shooting "Gyeongseong Creature" for the past two years to complete the first and second seasons, the former to be released at the end of the year; hence, the actor teased his fans that they will be seeing him again very soon.
