'Maybe next year': Rica Peralejo on showbiz comeback, recalls 'TGIS,' 'Gimik' days
MANILA, Philippines — It may be just a matter of time before Rica Peralejo will return to acting.
The actress has not been seen that much on TV and movies in the past years but it was a conscious decision on her part.
Philstar.com was able to talk to Rica at last week's Cebu Pacific launch of its new campaign, Juander Far and Wide, and the reveal of its 10.10 sale.
"Siguro, baka malapit na. Baka pwede na kasi lumalaki na 'yung mga anak ko e. Yun lang naman 'yung consideration ko lagi — the time I will lose (being) with them. So, I'm thinking maybe next year. They're already getting more and more independent. So maybe," she said.
Rica's two boys are at the school age. She married pastor Joseph "Joe" Bonifacio in 2010. After her marriage, she was seen in a handful of shows, including appearance in several episodes of "Maalaala Mo Kaya."
Reunion of former cast mates in TV and movies are becoming a trend these days. Will she be up for a reunion?
Rica said she is game to do a movie because films are not so taxing and will not take much of her time.
The actress, who has also turned into vlogging, also fondly recalled her "TGIS" and "Gimik" days.
She was fortunate to have joined two of the '90s most popular and rival youth-oriented shows.
Rica first appeared in "TGIS" as Mitch who was paired with Red Sternberg's Kiko in 1995. After two years, she starred as Jersey in "Gimik" in 1997.
Both shows starred then promising stars. "TGIS" starred Angelu de Leon, Bobby Andrews, Raven Villanueva, Michael Flores, Onemig Bondoc and Rica. "Gimik," on the other hand, had Judy Ann Santos, Diether Ocampo, G. Toengi, Marvin Agustin, Jolina Magdangal, Bojo Molina, Mylene Dizon and the late Rico Yan.
"Still my favorite, 'TGIS'," shared Rica.
When Philstar.com remarked she was also with "Gimik," Rica began to recall starring in the two popular shows.
"They were pretty much established na ('Gimik' cast) when they were together. I didn't blend as well as I blended with 'TGIS.' Kasi parang, 'TGIS,' na-start ko talaga siya, almost from the very beginning. So, I kind of like I grew together with the cast.
"(With) 'Gimik' kasi parang they were already existing for quite some time before I entered but it's still fun naman," Rica said. — Video by Kathleen A. Llemit, editing by Anjilica Andaya
