'Kami ang original love team': Julia Montes says no pressure to top Kathryn Bernardo's 'Hello, Love, Goodbye'
MANILA, Philippines — Actress Julia Montes revealed that she is not pressured to top the box-office performance of "Hello, Love, Goodbye," the movie that stars Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards. She and Alden are starring in the upcoming movie "Five Break-ups and a Romance."
"Hello Love Goodbye" is the highest grossing Filipino film of all time with P880 million. Julia and Kathryn have come a long way since they starred in the 2010 remake of the 1992 series with the same name, "Mara Clara."
Julia was a guest on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" last October 5. Boy asked Julia, “Is that a pressure that the highest-grossing film in the Philippine cinema stars Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo?”
“Siguro po pressure siya in the sense of dahil ang paningin ng tao, after nila Kathryn, kami po. But ako kasi, mas proud po ako e. Doon ako tumitingin kasi si Kathryn ‘yun,” Julia answered.
Julia said she is proud of what her friend Kathryn has achieved in her career.
“So parang imbes na tignan ko siya na parang nape-pressure lang, I’m proud na si Kathryn ‘yung nandoon. And kung ibe-bless kami with this film, bakit hindi? We’re happy,” she said.
“After her film right now, kami ‘yung susunod. Parang natataon nga po na lagi kami ‘yung nadidikit pero happy kami kasi ang lagi naming biro sa isa’t isa, ‘Tayo ang original love team. Nami-miss na natin ang isa’t isa. Kailan tayo gagawa (movie)," she added.
She quipped about her and Kathryn as the original pairing before they each found their own successful TV pairings. Kathryn is often paired with real-life boyfriend Daniel Padilla, while Julia is being linked to "Ang Probinsyano" co-star Coco Martin.
“Bago pa nabuo ang mga love team love team, kami na ang original love team at ‘yun ang love team na hindi matitibag sa aming dalawa," she said.
