Max Collins to show acting chops in three new projects

Max Collins is known to GMA weekend viewers as the character Elize in the recently-concluded Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis. The Sparkle GMA artist shares she has fun creating characters who evolve as the narrative progresses.

Max Collins is part of the key main cast of the action-comedy series, Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis, the finale episode of which aired last Sunday on a high note.

The Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. and Beauty Gonzalez starrer consistently did well in the weekend ratings’ game.

Max, the Kapuso actress shared her thoughts on her character Elizabeth-Elize in a recent chat with The STAR.

“That was just like a cover-up, basically, that’s how we started the show,” said she of the initial scenes showing her character as a hostage victim being rescued by the team of Major Batolome “Tolome” Reynaldo (played by Sen. Bong). “So, mabait pa siya noon (she had presented herself as someone nice and kind back then), (but) in recent episodes (leading to the finale) you could see that she also had a dark side because she’s involved with some dark people.”

The challenge for Max was to make her character’s real motive and persona latent or keep the latter’s true colors hidden.

“I didn’t want it to be so obvious in the beginning that she had a dark side,” shared she. “I tried to play it off and I tried my best to make it look, you know, believable as the character would have in real life. But she really had ulterior motives as to why she got close with Bart or Tolome. It was really all part of the plan.”

Max gave a convincing portrayal.

Asked if she enjoys playing dynamic characters, who change as the narrative progresses, Max answered, “I do, it’s fun because you don’t wanna play a boring character.”

She also quickly added that “there are no boring characters because as people, you know, we have layers, it’s nice when the audience gets to see those different layers of the character. Yeah, it’s more fun when they have like a lot going on with their personalities or like the character that I had was very dynamic because she had a good side and a dark side. It’s nice that the audience gets to see both. I do enjoy playing more dynamic characters.”

Yes, the Sparkle GMA artist is a reliable actress on-cam and a doting, loving mom to her son Skye off-cam. She is co-parenting with actor Pancho Magno.

“How am I as a mom? Well, because my son is three, but he’s so active and he’s so energetic and stuff. So, I’m kind of like hinahayaan ko siya to be a boy, to be rugged, to get hurt, you know, in some ways. I mean, of course, I protect him and at the same time, I try to let him be independent as well. So, that’s what I want him to learn,” said she.

“I guess I don’t wanna say I’m kind of like a chill mom. But I guess like that’s the best way to describe it. I’m not so OC but at the same time like I am hands-on because like he doesn’t have a yaya (nanny),” added she. “When he is with me, I’m like a hundred percent there because he is not always with me. Sometimes, he is with his dad.”

The mom and son would do activities together like doing an art class and going to Adventure Zone.

After her stint in the GMA weekend action-comedy series, Max will be seen in the following upcoming shows.

“I have Firefly, that’s with Dingdong Dantes, Miguel Tanfelix and Ysabela Ortega and I have a new show with Marian Rivera and Gabby Concepcion, it’s called Against All Odds,” said she.

The GMA News Online and 24 Oras reports share that the film revolves around the idea of finding the mysterious and magical island of fireflies and will be directed by Zig Dulay. Alessandra de Rossi, Cherry Pie Picache, Epi Quizon and Yayo Aguila are also part of the ensemble cast.

Against All Odds, on the other hand, is a family series also helmed by Zig. The latter is also the director behind the hit historical portal fantasy series, Maria Clara at Ibarra.

Max is also in the Almost Paradise Season 2, produced by Electric Entertainment with Dean Devlin and lead actor Christian Kane.

“It’s still in Cebu, so we shot everything (there), and my character there, Anne Villegas, owns a casino actually,” shared she. “So, my character is super yaman (she is very wealthy) there. It’s so much fun, the set was so gorgeous — the casino and the penthouse that they built from scratch for my character and she’s kind of become like a little bit of love interest of Christian’s character. His character like saves my character from some stuff. I’m in three episodes. It was a great experience and it was like a dream come true to work on that.”
