Now that the noontime arena hullabaloo has simmered, TV5 is out to enter the afternoon drama spot with a bang, thanks to a new program block which TV5 dubbed as the Hapon Champion. It will have ABS-CBN Entertainment as content supplier via Dreamscape’s Pira-Pirasong Paraiso and JRB Creative Productions’ Nag-Aapoy na Damdamin. This is starting on July 25 at 3 p.m.

Feisty storylines of deceit, betrayal, revenge, drama and mystery revolve around the program themes that will give the woozy afternoon audience a jolt of shock via today’s most promising actresses like Alexa Ilacad, Loisa Andalio, Charlie Dizon and Elisse Joson for Pira-Pirasong Paraiso and Ria Atayde and Jane Oineza for Nag-Aapoy na Damdamin.

This is Jane’s first lead role in her 22 years in showbiz, that is why you can expect her to give her A-game in the series, directed by no less than FM Reyes and Benedict Mique.

Some exciting shake-up, though, is that we will soon see Kapamilya stars on TVJ’s E.A.T.! Yes! That will be made possible by this even though the noontime show of ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime still chose to remain on the lunch spot. It is only a matter of time until we see the Kapamilya stars also guest in the program. A schedule has also been laid down starting next week and it will surely be a breath of fresh air to see über talented pairs like KdLex with the Legit Dabarkads.

The mishmash of stars is a welcome development for television viewers as we see the stars step out of their comfort zone and safe haven, which is their network, and they actually start to interact with more talents and creatives as well.

They are not just airing on another channel, but they’re building an extension home via this partnership with afternoon block partnership of TV5 and ABS-CBN.

KD Estrada recalled, “When I was younger I would watch different channels talaga. Wala talaga akong pinipili na network, wala akong favorite, bakit ‘di na lang sila magsama sama.”

“Ngayon na it is happening ang saya nakakalipat kami. Nakaka-meet kami (ng) different bosses and staff. It’s so nice they’re happy to see us. We’re also happy to see them!”

Alexa chimed in, “Working with new people, natututo kami makisama lalo now iba’t ibang ugali. The more the merrier.”

Just like what KD said, the meet and greet with the TV5 bosses and staff was crucial to familiarize the artists and make them feel more at home at TV5. All the stars were also having a ball. I mean having a moment with the now iconic big red ball at the TV5 Media Center in Mandaluyong.

Charlie shared, “Lahat bago, sa amin pero sobrang saya. Of course, yung nag-visit kami sa TV5 na lahat tayo nagkakasama sama na ngayon, lalo na nung pandemic na hiwalay.”

Elisse added, “Pwede pala na we’ll all come together as one and give people better quality shows and even better stories as one.”

Besides the ABS-CBN alliance, expect more tie-ups from TV5 and Viva Entertainment as they bring in the TV series remake of the 1980s film, Minsan pa Natin Hagkan ang Nakaraan, which will star real-life couple Cristine Reyes and Marco Gumabao, alongside veteran actor Cesar Montano.

The show will also be slated for the afternoon block, that is said to strengthen the TV5 program grid until primetime as the flagship newscast Frontline Pilipinas has also started to find its footing in terms of ratings and performance. It has entered the Top 20 shows in the country consistently according to AGB Nielsen.

Now that TV5 is inching towards solidifying the network’s whole program grid, viewers should expect that all shows will be on their toes to secure their spot on broadcast and why they all deserve to be there.

This goes out to all players in the field, especially now that the attention of the audience is at an all-time high on television post-pandemic lockdown.
