Dubbed as a “senior citizen rom-com,” Monday First Screening captivated audiences of all ages with its simple storytelling, relatable characters, and heartwarming moments. The film follows the delightful journey of two senior citizens who unexpectedly find love while attending the free Monday screenings at a local mall. It explores themes of companionship, second chances, and the boundless possibilities that come with age. It features the tandem of respected and multi-awarded actors Ricky Davao and Gina Alajar and directed by Benedict Mique.

Prior to the much-anticipated screening, a media conference was held earlier in the day. The cast members expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity provided by NET25 Films, particularly for being a part of the network’s inaugural venture into film production. The conference served as a platform for the cast to share their experiences, insights, and personal connections to the film’s compelling narrative.

Gina Alajar was a real trouper and attended the event even if she was under the weather (she tested negative for COVID) and shared her positive experience working with NET25 films.

Her co-star, Ricky Davao, mentioned that age is not an obstacle to love and expressed his excitement about working with Alajar, stating, “Gina and I are almost the same age. When we read the material, we thought, ‘Wow! We can make a love story at our age!’ So just from that, it was already thrilling. And knowing that I will be working with Gina, who is a dear friend. It’s not flattery, but when I heard that it would be the two of us, I was nervous and extremely excited because it’s wonderful to work with artists like Ms. Gina Alajar.”

When a media member inquired about why NET25 does not venture into more controversial themes, NET25 president Caesar Vallejos explained: “NET25 Films aims to be wholesome, family-friendly network in the Philippines, devoted to uplifting the time-honored core values of the Filipino.”

He added, “I think this is the only platform where we think NET25 can be different. We want to only promote wholesome and meaningful films.”

The exclusive movie block-screening was an extraordinary affair, providing a unique and enjoyable experience for the senior attendees. As a token of appreciation for their presence, the event organizers arranged special gifts, prizes, and complimentary services.

The senior citizens were treated to free medical check-ups, medicines, and eyeglasses, ensuring their well-being and enhancing their overall movie-going experience. Additionally, selected seniors were presented with wheelchairs, canes, and hearing aids, enabling them to navigate life’s adventures with greater ease and comfort.

The overwhelming response from the audience, comprising of individuals from diverse age groups, further attested to the film’s universal appeal. Monday First Screening served as a testament that love knows no boundaries and that the stories of senior citizens can resonate deeply with people of all generations.
