CIDG nabs 2 men selling explosives
At least P250,000 worth of explosive devices were seized by the operatives of CIDG-7 Cebu City Field Unit Operation and Detection Section during a buy-bust operation conducted in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City Sunday. The suspects were identified as Elmer Gravador Santos, 60, and Ernesto Sorilla Garcia, 48.

CEBU, Philippines —  Two men with explosive devices were arrested in a buy-bust operation launched by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Operation and Detection Section Cebu Field Unit yesterday afternoon.

The successful buy-bust operation was conducted at the Il Corso Parking Lot, Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City.

Police Lt. Col. Randy Korret, who led the operation, identified the suspects as Elmer Gravador Santos, 69, and Ernesto Sorilla Garcia Jr., 48, both residents of Talisay City.

Korret said that they have been conducting surveillance operations for two months against the suspects who are said to be selling explosive devices to be used in illegal fishing.

During the operation, the police confiscated 4250 blasting caps, 26 TNT charge worth P250,000.

The arrested persons were taken to the CIDG Detention Facility office while the proper charges are being prepared to be filed against them. — GAN (FREEMAN)
