After earning millions of streams, topping various charts, and consistently growing its fanbase, BGYO continues to forge its path as one of the leading P-pop acts in the country.
The group’s recent album Be Us marked a new beginning for its members. They paid homage to their Filipino roots by conveying a modern concept of love and courting. It also showed their versatility as they experimented with different genres varying from EDM, pop to disco.
Currently, Gelo, Akira, JL, Mikki, and Nate are gearing up to conquer the stage as they celebrate their second anniversary with a live album showcase at Skydome on May 12.
“We are very excited because this is the first time that we will showcase all of our songs instead of just three songs in different brands or malls. We own the stage and we own what is happening on May 12. We hope everyone would be satisfied with what we have prepared for them,” shared Nate.
The group also teased that fans would be able to witness never-performed songs and new dance routines they crafted for the showcase.
“Nag-pe-prep kami sa training sa dance and sa songs na hindi pa namin nagagawan ng choreo. Wino-work out din namin yung stamina para pagdating ng mismong showcase hindi kami sobrang hingal dahil dire-diretso at nonstop yung dance performances namin,” Gelo disclosed.
Aside from their album showcase rehearsals, the group dubbed as “Aces of P-pop” are touring in different cities to promote their music and to meet their dedicated fans called “ACEs.”
“Sobrang saya nung mall tour because we get to see all the ACEs na hindi pa namin nakikita before and new places na ‘di pa namin napupuntahan. Yung isang pinaka-memorable is yung nag-prompose yung fans saying will you be our date sa Star Magical prom,” Mikki said.
Despite being regarded as one of the P-pop groups that continues to push boundaries and break through the international market, BGYO believes that it still has a long way to go and a lot more to prove.
“Masaya sa feeling na gano’n yung tingin sa amin ng mga tao pero kami rin po sa sarili namin alam namin na marami pa kaming kailangang kainin na bigas. We’re happy na isa kami sa nagiging way para makilala yung OPM and P-pop sa bansa natin,” Akira shared.
It seems like a dream come true for BGYO who started out as trainees with dreams to debut as a recording artist. Now, they are shining P-pop idols who aspire to reach bigger audiences in the local and international music scene.
“We still have many dreams that we want to fulfill. Sana makatapak kami sa iba’t ibang bansa at sana rin maging household name yung BGYO dito sa bansa natin,” JL said.
When asked how they want to be remembered, the members uttered a unifying answer, “Gusto namin matandaan ang BGYO na solid na music with good personalities. Sana marami pa kaming ma-touch na tao through our music not only in the Philippines but in different corners of the world.”
