NET25 Golf Cup holds star-studded inaugural tournament
Last Monday, March 20, was the first-ever NET25 Golf Cup Tournament held at the Alabang Country Club. I unfortunately missed this event since I was in Hanoi to tape two episodes for our anniversary episode of Lutong Daza which also airs on NET25.
It was a star-studded event and the ceremonial tee-off was led by NET25 president Caesar Vallejos with a group of prominent personalities and NET25 talents that included former senate president Vicente “Tito” Sotto and anchor of public service program Reality Check; Bossing Vic Sotto of Love, Bosleng and Tali; Aga Muhlach of Tara Game, Agad-agad; Epy Quizon of Quizon CT, and veteran broadcast journalist Alex Santos of Mata ng Agila.
Also part of the ceremonial tee-off were Derek Ramsay and former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno. Meanwhile, stars of Quizon CT Vandolph Quizon and Garry Lim also played in the tournament. They were joined by singer, actor and host Randy Santiago.
Despite being non-golfers, some attendees showed their support by gracing the event. Korina Sanchez-Roxas, the veteran broadcast-journalist and host of Korina Interviews, was also present to show her support for her colleagues in the network. Korina had so much fun since she was in the company of a lot of comedians and was impressed by the management’s commitment to their talents. Who knows? She may even learn to play the sport so she can join the next tournament.
Also present were Wilma Galvante, the Programming and Production consultant of NET25; Pia Guanio-Mago of Kada Umaga, my partner Ali Sotto of ASPN who followed right after the show with Rikki Mathay, anchor of Mata ng Aguila International edition and who sat in for me that day, too. Since they don’t play golf, these empowered women preferred to enjoy each other’s company while savoring the delicious spread the club prepared. Anthony Ocampo and Sofia Isabel of Anong Meron Kay Abok and David Chua and Devon Seron of Goodwill also graced the event.
Caesar expressed his appreciation for the success of the event. He told me that the golf tickets were sold out, and they had to stop selling them due to the overwhelming number of participants. He also mentioned that the NET25 Golf Cup is part of the network’s commitment to promoting sports and this is just the beginning of many sporting events to come in the near future.
According to Alex, the first-ever NET25 Golf Cup was exciting and a happy occasion. It was the first time that NET25 had organized such an event and Alex also expressed his gratitude to the organizers and participants. He is optimistic that this will be an annual event.
The NET25 Golf Cup is not just a tournament, but also a celebration of sportsmanship and camaraderie. The tournament was easily accessible to golfers of all levels, from beginners to professionals and it was a delight to know that though it was competitive, everyone had fun.
