WATCH: Jane de Leon, Janella Salvador open to reprising 'Darna' roles in the future

MANILA, Philippines — As the Kapamilya show "Darna" enters its final two weeks, the series' stars Jane de Leon and Janella Salvador have not closed the door on potentially portraying their roles again in future projects.

In a media press conference held last January 30 in ABS-CBN, both Jane and Janella told Philstar.com their thoughts on reprising their respective iconic roles of Narda/Darna and Regina/Valentina.

"Open naman siya eh. 'Yung story kasi ng 'Darna,' continuous naman siya," Jane said, touching on the original comics by Mars Ravelo that the show is based on, and like any other comic franchise, such as Marvel and DC, opens up possibilities of bringing characters back.

Jane continued, "And ang maganda doon ay if ever magkaroon, 'di natin alam baka movie or another series ulit, but, of course, it's up to our bosses. If ever, I'll be glad. Sana makasama ko pa rin sila."

Zaijan Jaranilla, best known for his breakout role as Santino in "May Bukas Pa," chipped in to ask Jane if she was willing for him to play Ding again opposite her.

"Ay patay tayo diyan!" Jane said, which elicited laughter from the "Darna" cast. "Sa amin ka na nga nakatira!"

"Parang ayaw na niya!" Zaijan told Philstar.com with a smile.

As for Janella, she reiterated that Regina has already died on the show, but that doesn't mean she couldn't return.

"Well, Regina is dead... pero malay natin si Valentina, magbalik. So why not? I'm open," Janella teased.

Once "Darna" finishes its final two weeks, it will be replaced by "FPJ's Batang Quiapo," starring Coco Martin, who had starred in the long-running "Ang Probinsyano," which was also an original project involving the late National Artist Fernando Poe Jr.

In fact, "Darna" replaced "Ang Probinsyano" when the latter ended after nine seasons across seven years.

Starring with Coco Martin on "FPJ's Batang Quiapo" are Charos Santos, Christopher de Leon, Philip Salvador, Ejay Falcon, Ryza Cenon and FPJ's own daughter, Lovi Poe.
