YouTube Yearender reveals 2022’s top trending creators, videos

MANILA, Philippines — When it comes to the video content Filipinos tuned into in 2022, it has definitely been a jam-packed and interesting year for viewers and creators alike. New and unexpected names and other surprises make up the latest YouTube Yearender list.

On Tuesday, YouTube revealed the overall top trending videos, music videos and creators that Filipinos watched and engaged in this year. The sequel of Kristories’ Aswang sa Probinsya, Blackpink’s Pink Venom music video, and Geo Ong landed the top spots, respectively.

This year’s Top 10 creators took fans by surprise as last year’s top content creator Ivana Alawi with 16.1 million subscribers fell to the fourth spot, consequently breaking her two-year streak at the lead.

The 25-year-old who has recently been juggling both acting and vlogging was replaced by Palawan-based rapper-vlogger Geo Ong with 4.59 million subscribers.

The new entrants on the list such as actress Francine Diaz and the internet’s favorite rich tita Small Laude are proof that even YouTube newbies with less than four years in the vlogging biz can work their way up to the list.

Meanwhile, the Top 10 trending videos came as no surprise as it was sourced from the well-loved creators and channels that brought good vibes to Pinoys.

For the top YouTube videos, fans of K-pop appeared to have called the shots as Blackpink’s comeback hit Pink Venom and Charlie Puth and BTS’ Jungkook’s collab song Left and Right topped the list of music videos.

After a two-year streak at the lead, Ivana Alawi falls to the fourth spot in the list of top content creators.
