'My teenage self love you deeply': Hillary Duff, fans remember Aaron Carter

MANILA, Philippines — From his ex Hillary Duff to his beloved fans, the former teen pop sensation and later rapper Aaron Carter was remembered on the news of his passing on November 5.

Carter, the younger brother of Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter, was reported to have passed away in his home in Lancaster, California. He was 34. 

TMZ first reported about Carter's passing. The entertainment web site said that its sources told them a male had drowned in a bathtub in his home in Lancaster in southern California.

Melanie Martin, the mother of Carter's son, told TMZ how she felt about Carter's passing. Carter and Martin welcomed their son, Prince, in November 2021. 

"My fiancé Aaron Carter has passed away. I love Aaron with all my heart and it's going to be a journey to raise a son without a father. Please respect the privacy of my family as we come to terms with the loss of someone we love greatly. We are still in the process of accepting this unfortunate reality. Your thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated," she told TMZ.
 
His ex-girlfriend, "Lizzie McGuire" star Hillary Duff penned a touching letter for the former teen singing sensation like herself. 

"For Aaron- I'm deeply sorry that life was so hard for you and that you had to struggle in-front of the whole world. You had a charm that was absolutely effervescent... boy did my teenage self love you deeply. Sending love to your family at this time. Rest easy," Duff wrote on her Instagram account. 

Duff and Carter dated for a year when they were 13. It was cut short. Carter later dated another then teen star, Lindsay Lohan.

Carter even appeared in the hit 1990s Disney show. 

"One Tree Hill" star Tyler Hilton shared his sadness on Carter's death. He shared the stage with Carter in a show in 2019. 

"No…. This @aaroncarter news is heartbreaking… this kid had such a spark. Known him for years and always really liked him, he was warm and really funny. Loved putting on a show and he was good at it. Ill find some pics of us and post more later… damn RIP budddd #aaroncarter," he tweeted.

Another '90s act, New Kids on the Block, tweeted its regrets over the passing of Carter.

A fan recalled how Aaron Carter inspired her, even calling him the Justin Bieber of her generation. 

Another fan shared a clip of Carter's appearance on "Lizzie Maguire" and said it was one of the best episodes of the show. 

Carter was a '90s teen pop sensation known for hits such as "Aaron's Party (Come Get It)," "That's How I Beat Shaq," "I Want Candy" and "I'm All About You." 

In his later years, Carter tried his hands on making and producing rap songs. 

Carter's family has not yet released any statements on his passing as of press time.
