Maris Racal makes surprise appearance at boyfriend Rico Blanco's concert

MANILA, Philippines — Actress Maris Racal made a surprise appearance at her boyfriend, Rico Blanco’s sold-out concert on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.

Rico had said at the concert’s press conference last month that Maris could not make it to his concert because of the actress’ lock-in taping for a show.

Prior to concert day, a social media post said Maris was in Baguio for the taping of her TV5 show.

Maris, however, appeared on stage at the latter part of the concert where she and Rico sang their collaboration song “Abot Langit” to the delight of the fans.

Rico described the song as his way of meeting Maris.

The singer-songwriter was on fire all night, singing his hit songs in the four-hour-long concert. Even then, the former Rivermaya frontman was not able to sing all of his hit songs, such as “Bring Me Down” and “Alab ng Puso,” to name a few.

The OPM rock icon also turned emotional while singing “Panahon Na Naman” as he asked the audience to close their eyes, reflect on the two years that had gone by marked by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and remember all the lives lost during that time.

Rico opened the concert with “Antukin” and closed it with the anthemic “Awit ng Kabataan.” The crowd, however, requested for more as Rico and his band came back on stage for an encore and sang monster hits, “Liwanag sa Dilim” and “Your Universe.”

Ebe Dancel, Zild and Peniel were some of the guest performers at Rico's concert.
