MANILA, Philippines — Actress Andrea Del Rosario revealed that she accepted a sexy role once again at 44 years old because National Artist Ricky Lee wrote the movie.
Andrea recently told NewsKo that the new Viva movie "May-December-January" is brave enough and it was helmed by director Mac Alejandre so she accepted it.
“Medyo matapang ‘yung movie. If I’ll do a project na matapang, this was the best avenue because it’s with Ricky Lee and direk Mac Alejandre,” Andrea said.
“I got a call straight from boss Vic. Of course, he told me that it’s a Ricky Lee movie and that’s what sold it to me,” she added.
Andrea believed that the viewing public is smarter now so they understand that being sexy in a film is just part of the story.
“Medyo daring talaga, pero you know, making love/sex is part of humanity, it’s part of life. We are ‘story tellers’ in some stories, parte ‘yon and it’s unfair for sir Ricky Lee, for us to focus on that because I dont think that this movie was written for that purpose," she said.
“Viewers are smarter now, they undertstand na naman ang may story at ang wala. But I understand viewers din naman, kasi nga some are just made for the sole purpose of showing skin,” she added.
She prepared for the role by watching sexy local and Hollywood films.
“I had to watch foreign movies to get the 'lakas ng loob' like ‘The Reader’ ni Kate Winslet and ‘Love and Drugs’ of Anne Hathaway. But marami pa rin na-'trim' ang ginawa sa mga maselan na scenes. Anyway, I had to watch local movies din like ‘Glorious’ (Angel Aquino), ‘Untrue’ (Cristine Reyes)… to just get a feel of some of the treatments ng mga scene na ‘yon," she said.
“I understand the vision of Boss Vic, that he just wants us na makipagsabayan sa ibang first world countries. To be competitive, especially with other platforms out there like Netflix, etcetera,” she added.
