Why Ro Woon considers his Phl visit ‘unforgettable’
MANILA, Philippines — South Korean singer and actor Ro Woon considered his recent visit to the Philippines as “one of my unforgettable memories.”
“I am very thankful because this is really a beautiful and a special day. I am very overwhelmed. Actually, I didn’t expect that a lot of fans (would be) waiting for me here in the Philippines. I think this is one of my unforgettable memories. I am so happy because all of you guys are here with me,” the 25-year-old actor said in Korean, which was translated to Tagalog and English by an interpreter, during the question and answer (Q&A) part of his fan meet.
Held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Sunday, the event was exclusive to New Globe One App subscribers and made possible by Globe KmmunityPH as part of its third-anniversary events.
Debuting in 2016, Ro Woon is the main vocalist of the K-pop boy band SF9 and has starred in the K-dramas Extraordinary You (2019), She Would Never Know (2021), The King’s Affection (2021) and Tomorrow (2022).
During the Q&A segment, he revealed that he was not quite expressive to his friends. He also shared some inspiring messages about failure and confidence to his fans.
“Failure is more meaningful compared to success,” he said. By this, he meant, “With failure, it will encourage you to achieve more and more. You are having a rough time right now but as time passes by, you will get through it and be happy. That failure will eventually become a memorable one.”
Ro Woon’s advice to people who feel that they’re losing their confidence is to “trust yourself and go with the flow.”
“If I do a new project, of course, I also get scared. But whatever happens, it’s yours, don’t have any regrets, just go with the flow. Just think that you can do it, whoever you are,” he said.
“If you believe in yourself, of course, the best results will come out,” he added.
It was truly a memorable event as unrelenting fans trooped to the venue and consistently cheered for the actor all throughout the program. Even a simple “Mabuhay!” from Ro Woon sent the crowd wild and had them chanting his name.
He said he was very grateful and touched because he didn’t expect the huge crowd turnout.
The highlights of the event included Ro Woon learning new Filipino words, trying local dishes, putting on a barong, answering speed trivia and playing Pinoy Henyo.
He uttered “Mahal ko kayo” and “Ipagdarasal ko ang munting kaligayahan mo” to his screaming fans.
He liked the lechon. He was also able to try turon with langka, puto bumbong and taho during the show and the latter was his favorite. “Sa palagay ko kailangan kong dalhin ‘to sa Korea,” he said of the taho, as interpreted in Filipino. “So good!”
When he visited the Philippines before, he didn’t get to try that much Filipino food. Since he had the chance to eat more local dishes on his latest trip, he expressed, “I’m really happy.”
He also performed the K-pop dance Next Level, demonstrated jegichagi and sipa, and prepared some souvenirs, signed by him, for his fans.
Ro Woon is currently preparing for his next project and asked for the support of his followers.
Towards the end of the program, he took a selfie with the crowd and watched a video presentation prepared by his Filipino supporters who conveyed their love and well-wishes for him.
“I really received a lot of support from you and I will always remember this,” Ro Woon remarked.
“You inspired me to do new projects. I hope you don’t forget me and please keep supporting me. This is the biggest gift I have received today.”
He concluded the event by rendering one of the soundtracks from his series The King’s Affection.
