'Damage control': Cristy Fermin reacts to Rey Abellana's one-night stand statement withdrawal
MANILA, Philippines — Veteran showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin reacted to actor Rey “PJ” Abellana’s withdrawal of statement regarding the one-night stand allegedly committed by Tom Rodriguez that made his relationship with wife Carla Abellana sour.
In an episode of “Cristy Ferminute,” Cristy said Rey’s retraction is for damage control.
“Hindi na po nakakapagtaka, hindi po kami ipinanganak kahapon. 'Yung mga ganito po na pagbawi ng mga sinabi tulad ng ginawa kahapon ni Rey Abellana sa '24 Oras,' hindi na po ito nakaka-shock. Wala pong halong gulat ito. Ang tawag po dito ay isang maliwanag na damage control,” Cristy claimed.
“Maaari po na pagkatapos magsalita ni Rey Abellana dito sa ating programa ay tinawagan siya agad ng kanyang anak na si Carla at galit na nagtanong sa kanya kung bakit kinailangan niyang magsalita. Pero, alam niyo po, maraming bagay na pwedeng bawiin, pero ang salita po na nabitiwan na, anuman po ang gawin natin, ay nandiyan na. Hindi na po mababawi 'yan,” she added.
It can be recalled that Rey told about the supposed one-night stand in an interview with Cristy.

Rey then withdrew his statement that his son-in-law Tom had a one night stand.
In his interview with "24 Oras," Rey said that Tom apparently was able to distance himself from a supposed one-night stand.
“At first, nalaman ni Carla na may issue na one-night stand na involved si Tom. Si Tom naman was already able to explain kay Carla na wala naman din pong katotohanan ito, at naiwasan naman din niya na mangyari iyon,” Rey said.
