MANILA, Philippines — The Miss World Organization joined the calls to stop the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

During the coronation night on Thursday held at the Coca-Cola Music Hall in San Juan in Puerto Rico, the pageant’s hosts and candidates lit candles in support for Ukraine.

They also sang Andrea Bocelli’s iconic song “The Prayer” asking for peace for the people of Ukraine.

Miss World Ukraine 2016 Oleksandra Kucherenko also had a video message sharing her experience in the war.

“Today I woke up at 5 to the sound of bomb explosion nearby. I pray to stop this one. I pray the children won't die on the fire anymore and women won’t hides in shelters and that men won't suffer on the fronts,” she said.

“I pray that we, Ukranians, will live peaceful life on our native lands,” she added.

The Philippines' bet Tracy Maureen Perez failed to enter the Top 6 but entered in the Top 12 of the competition.
