Viva actress Cindy Miranda felt like she won the lottery when she learned that she would be working with award-winning actors John Arcilla, Sid Lucero and Nathalie Hart on equal billing in the film Reroute. The sexy-suspense thriller is helmed by multi-awarded Lawrence Fajardo.
In the movie, Trina (played by Cindy) and Dan (Sid) are a couple having marital problems. They travel down south to visit Dan’s father but roadblocks hit their way. Trina and Dan stumble upon a strange, barefooted man named Gemo (John) and his wife, Lala (Nathalie). They sense there is something wrong when Gemo asks personal questions about them during their stay. Surprising twists start to unravel in the spine-chilling flick.
For rising stars like Cindy, being surrounded by topnotch stars and director compelled her to keep up with the level of her acting collaborators.
“I always give my best (in my previous projects) but in this movie, mas ginalingan ko,” shared Cindy in a virtual call. “I became more serious with my craft. I was fluid. Ang galing kasi nakarating ako dun sa emotion that I wanted to show. Minsan kasi ang hirap natin makarating dun sa emotion, di ba? But while I was shooting this, I was there. Maybe because ang gagaling ng mga co-actors ko.”
As a newbie, Cindy felt intimidated and pressured having John and Sid around. “I was just watching them, siyempre kinakabahan po ako. Siyempre ayoko ko naman ipakita yun sa kanila ‘coz I wanted them to be comfortable din. Kasi siyempre isipin nila ‘pag kinakabahan ako or natatakot ako, I couldn’t do the scene. But deep inside, gusto kong manginig,” admitted Cindy.
“But they are very nice people na hindi nila ipaparamdam kung ano man ang narating nila and kung sino sila ngayon. Wala akong naramdaman na, ‘Baguhan ka lang and kami matagal na kami dito.’ Wala pong ganun,” she shared.
According to Cindy, her co-stars treated her well with respect and as their equal, despite their status in the showbiz industry. They are her idols and she wants to become like them some day. In fact, she immediately asked for a photo with John the moment she met him on set.
The beauty queen-turned-actress further disclosed the contrasting personalities of John and Sid that she discovered during the filming. John is the silent, serious type, while Sid is more playful and has a relaxed nature. Cindy, moreover, saw herself in the former, “I’m like Sir John, seryoso and naka-isolate talaga before the scene… There are times na nasasabihan ako na very serious talaga sa set, in the zone na po ako eh. I became the character already, I don’t really talk much. Ayoko talaga ma-distract.”
I will catch myself na, ‘Ay nandudun din pala si Cindy,’” he told The STAR in another media conference.
Sid, on the other hand, “talks a lot,” shared Cindy. “Ku-kwentuhan ka talaga niya. Medyo relaxed yung ugali niya sa set, (he is) very funny. Ma-kuwento, maingay. Minsan may nag-vi-video, medyo napagbawalan siya na, ‘Psst, medyo maingay.’” She also described Sid as kind, very smart and a fast-thinker, and thanked him for understanding her introverted and weird attitude at work.
On her sizzling love scene with Sid, Cindy revealed she was nervous because it was her first time doing it with the actor but nonetheless, she enjoyed the scene “kasi ang galing ni Kuya Sid, eh. Pro na siya sa mga ganun bagay and he knows what to do,” shared Cindy. Sid’s face turned red while John had a silly reaction, “He looks like a hustler because he is like that in real life but he is new sa ganung mga bagay — ‘porn thing’ on screen (laughs).”
Sid praised Cindy for her acting chops and cited the “beautiful dynamics of the four characters.”
“Feeling ko mas minahal ko yung trabaho ko nung nakasama ko sila kasi mahal na mahal nila craft nila eh. I fell in love with my profession even more. They motivated and inspired me to love my job,” said Cindy.
Meanwhile, Cindy is also looking forward to meet her special someone very soon. “Kasi may time na nalulungkot din po ako or naiinggit ako sa mga kaibigan ko ‘pag may nag-po-post na may kasama sila as a couple. Sana ma-meet ko siya (soon-to-be-boyfriend) very soon.”
She added, “Hindi naman po kailangang magmadali talaga. I don’t have plans of getting married yet. But if ma-meet ko man po siya this year, or tomorrow or later, why not? Kasi di ba ang sarap pong ma-in love. Nami-miss ko na din po yung kiligin.”
