Lyca takes on new journey with Viva
Lyca on her singing career: ‘To be a singer has always been my dream ever since I was a kid. I don’t want to lose it. I will continue pursuing my career to help my family. It never occurred to me to quit my (showbiz) career because I worked hard for it.’

Lyca Gairanod has reflected on her showbiz career as a singer and an actress since she captured the hearts of the public in the first ABS-CBN’s The Voice Kids in 2014.

When asked in a virtual call if there was a point in her life did she consider quitting as an artist, she firmly said no. “Matagal ko pong pinangarap yun, since batang-bata pa po ako. I don’t want to lose it. I will continue pursuing my career to help my family.

Did she have any regrets in her career? She paused for a moment and told The STAR that she did have but would rather see the brighter side of things.

Lyca Gairanod is now managed by Viva Artists Agency.

“I thanked God every day for all the blessings. I am really grateful that He always guides me. He is the source of my strength (to go on),” she added.

Lyca, now 17, is happy that she is still able to chase after her dreams now that she is under Viva Artists Agency (VAA), with her The Voice coach Sarah Geronimo.

I still have goals to achieve in my life,” she said.

Lyca also aims to do more acting stints including doing a movie with Sarah, who was the reason why she landed in Viva. “I really wanted to explore a new journey.

She often reminds me to always give my best in everything that I do, show my true and authentic self, and enjoy work,” she added.

Now that she is under a new management and has bloomed into a young lady, her music genre preference has shifted from Aegis hits to pop, rock and rap.

Early last year, Lyca dropped her first ever single, with Viva Records, titled Akala Ko Ba and her latest track is Malapit Na Akong Mahulog Sa’yo. She also recorded an acoustic version of Bandang Lapis’ breakout success Kabilang Buhay and performed a solo version of the song on Wishbus that gained over 13 million views after it was uploaded last August on YouTube channel.

Another online hit was her duet with her younger sister, Hannah, where they stage Lason Mong Halik via Facebook. She is also into vlogging with 1.85 million subscribers on YouTube.

Speaking of vlogging, one notable viral bit of Lyca was the “kelan ang birthday mo? Nov. 21?oh my god! Birthday ko yun!” with Karen Davila during a YouTube interview last August. Their hilarious reactions after finding out they have the same birthdate generated a bunch of online memes.

Meanwhile, Lyca reiterated her love for family and as a breadwinner, she will continue to support them. It can be recalled that when she won a house and lot from The Voice Kids, she sold it and moved back to Tanza, Cavite to be with her lola and loved ones.

Hindi sila nanghingi,” replied Lyca when queried about to what extent will she “adjust” for her family. “Me, as a breadwinner, I need to help my family, kahit sinasabi nila na need ko din daw ng gabay nila. I like what I’m doing (helping my family).

One of her goals in the future is to have a self-designed abode. She said, “I dreamed of owning a house.

“Pinaka-exciting pa rin po sa akin yung nagkaroon ulit ako ng opportunities na magkaroon ng journey nitong 2021 (signing up with Viva),” she said of the year that was and wished for career longevity and good health for her kin this year, “For 2022, I wish na mas maging healthy po yung family ko and of course, maging OK na yung mundo natin.”
