'Nasasaktan ako': Willie Revillame reaps praises for showing unfiled COC, dismay over dirty politics
MANILA, Philippines — Kapuso host Willie Revillame will not run for any position in the upcoming May 2022 elections.
On Thursday's episode of "Tutok To Win sa Wowowin," the show featured a lengthy video clip showing Willie's generosity to the public through the years.
Willie, however, later said that he's not running, ending speculations that he will run for a Senate seat.
Willie earlier this year received a video greeting from President Rodrigo Duterte to convince him to run for senator. He also cited reports about his meeting with Duterte, including one by the late The STAR Associate Editor and Entertainment Editor Ricky Lo.
According to him, he decided to decline the president's offer first, because he does not like the dirtiness of politics and second, he did not feel qualified for public office since he did not finish school and did not study public governance.
Social media users lauded Willie's decision not to run in any government position.
“In fairness kay Willie Revillame ha. I will always remember Dolphy as someone who didn’t abuse fame to get power. Sana all ganun,” a Twitter user posted.
