Lovi Poe joins ABS-CBN, thanks former network GMA
On Thursday, when she officially signed up with ABS-CBN after months of speculation, the actress-singer was nothing but grateful for the network that gave her roots in the showbiz industry.
Her caption read: “Hindi po biro ang 15 years. I would like to thank GMA for taking a chance on this unknown dreamer; for believing in me and supporting me all these years. I have utmost respect and gratitude to the network that has given me my roots and a heart full of memories.
“Thank you for planting my dreams. Thank you for giving it time, love and effort to water it.”
In a virtual presscon, she said it was a tough decision becoming a Kapamilya.
“I’m going to be very completely honest, it wasn’t an easy decision. It was like one of the toughest things I’ve ever had to do, of course, because I’ve been with GMA for 15 years and they took care of me, too, and they’ve been good to me. I have nothing but good words and respect.
“There’s no other way than to be grateful. It was tough, but I’m here to celebrate my new home and my new family. I’m just really blessed that I have a lot of people who actually believe in me. I’m just glad that they’ve (ABS-CBN) welcomed me with open arms,” she said.
Lovi’s first project as a Kapamilya will be with the network’s ultimate heartthrob Piolo Pascual. The two artists will be paired in the Philippine adaptation of the hit Korean drama Flower of Evil, disclosed Deo Endrinal, head of the ABS-CBN production unit Dreamscape Entertainment in an Instagram post.
This is also the actress’ second ABS-CBN project overall, after she starred in the 2020 iWant TFC original movie Malaya, for which she bagged a Gawad Urian Best Actress nomination.
As the 32-year-old enters the next phase of her career as a Kapamilya, Lovi will also be taking on more international projects as she pursues her passions in Hollywood.
She’s set to start filming The Chelsea Cowboy next month in the UK, alongside British stars Alex Pettyfer and Poppy Delevingne.
