MANILA, Philippines — Sam Concepcion, Janine Teñoso, Katrina Velarde and Daryl Ong will stage a “celebration of love”-themed concert dubbed Four Hearts this Aug. 28.

The music artists will serenade everyone with love songs, tackle matters of the heart and give all a feel of how it is to love in the new normal.

“The idea of the show is all about love. Kung paano nagagawang magmahal ng tao ngayon despite of the pandemic,” shared Katrina during the media conference for the Viva Live digital concert.

“We’re gonna talk about how it is to date online now in the time of the pandemic. We will communicate through our songs,” added Janine.

For Daryl, the concert is very personal to him. “Topic nito is paano ba makipag-date or paano makipag-communicate sa mga significant na tao sa buhay mo lalo na with challenges (posed by) this pandemic na kinakaharap natin ngayon,” he told The STAR.

“Yung mga kakantahin ko sa concert na to, lahat konektado dun sa recent na nangyari sa buhay ko,” shared Daryl. His mom was hospitalized and underwent an operation, and he got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Dea Formilleza last month. “Kaya for me, very personally connected ako sa show na ‘to kaya excited din ako kung papano tatanggapin din ng audience yung ipapakita namin. Yung mga performances namin sa show na ‘to.”

What makes the show interesting is that the unexpected group of four singers, “who come from different places but still under the umbrella of Viva, will perform,” said Sam. “I think that makes for a great chemistry in a different kind of balance that brings dun sa show.”

He further said, “It’s not just a concert with songs. We really sit down and talk about how the pandemic has affected us and kung paano na affect yung lives namin, with our relationships, with love. I think that’s the whole thing about the show na lahat ng tao will be able to connect to because that’s what we really are here for in these trying times, connection and love, whether that would be in family or romantic relationships.”

It is basically “a very interesting mix of personal experiences and personal music interwoven together,” added Sam.

The concert is likewise a reflection of their relationship status and mood.

Katrina got married in the middle of the pandemic. She tied the knot early this year to American musician Mike Shapiro in a private ceremony in Tagaytay.

Daryl recently proposed to Dea. They started out as friends in 2011 and entered into a relationship in 2016.

Sam is single, while Janine is linked to Arthur Nery, a fellow musician whom she collaborated with in Pelikula, one of the love tracks in her newly-released EP under Viva, Kwento sa Silid.

When asked about her relationship status, Janine was caught off guard and did not directly answer the question. She cryptically said she was able to “let go” and “move on.” It was not clear whom she was referring to.

Nonetheless, Janine will get to sing tracks from her new EP including Umibig Muli, a duet with Sam.

Sam returned the favor of singing in Janine’s song after she performed one of the theme songs of Sam’s dance musical film Indak.

“It’s okay to be alone in this season. I guess kasi with everything that’s going on with the pandemic, it’s okay not to depend muna on your own relationship. It’s okay not to process yourself in whatever you’re going through muna,” said Janine on what message she wants to send through her songs in the upcoming concert.

Sam, on the other hand, will “talk through his past and current experiences when it comes to love and life” in this music event. “And I hope that people will find something in it.”

Daryl will also perform his new single Lagda, a wedding song written and composed by Mike (Katrina’s husband) and another friend. “Parang finally, maglalagda na tayo. Manunumpa na tayo sa Maykapal na habang buhay na tayo na magiging magkasama. So sabi ko, ‘Wait,’ isama ko na ‘to sa lineup ko sa concert,” said the soon-to-be-husband, who thanked Viva for allowing him to sing Lagda. Katrina and Daryl recorded and released a song together last year titled Love Me Now.

Directed by Paolo Valenciano, the Four Hearts digital concert is set on Aug. 28 at 8 p.m. via ktx.ph (Philippines), IWANTFC and TFC IPTV (other territories).
