Elisse enjoys playing diverse roles
Elisse Joson is on vacation in the US with her family. The 25-year-old actress said that it’s a yearly tradition for them to spend the holidays abroad and since new travel guidelines are strictly being implemented due to new COVID-19 variants, they decided to stay for a few more weeks.
“I’m not sure yet when (exact date of coming back to Manila),” said Elisse who, at 2 a.m. (US time), was still wide awake and jolly during the interview held a couple of days ago. “But it’s all right since I am with my family, my mom is here so it’s fine.”
Perhaps, not many people would notice about her absence because Elisse is in every scene of the Libra episode of Horrorscope, directed and produced by Ato Bautista with Dreamscape Entertainment. The anthology series is now streaming on iWant-TFC.
In the episode set in the year 1943, Elisse is Clarissa, a mysterious lady who comes from a different town. “So, kumbaga pagkapasok ko sa bagong community, hindi nila alam yung pinanggalingan ko. This was actually set in the Japanese era and so the set up ay makaluma.”
The moment she learned about her character, Elisse knew that it would be much of a challenge for her. “It’s my first time playing a mysterious character in a storyline that has a dark element like demonic possession, which is essential in the theme of the episode.”
The actress visibly has an active interest in expanding the onscreen possibility of taking in roles that put her acting in grand display.
“It drives me to show my best every time I am handed with a script that requires me to portray a character that I’ve never done before like here (in Horrorscope),” said Elisse whose career started to turn rosy after her stint in Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) with former housemate McCoy de Leon as onscreen partner. They eventually became a couple but ended up parting ways in 2018.
Since then, Elisse began appearing in acting projects sans a love team. Does she miss having one?
“Ever since, even while we’re a love team, I would often tell everyone that I wanted to widen my knowledge in acting na gusto kong makatanggap ng projects na iba-iba ang role. One good thing that happened after our love team ay yung nakakuha ako ng chance to portray different roles and because of that, I felt lucky that there were people who believed in my capability. I feel so blessed.”
Elisse added, “I can say that until now, I’m still enjoying ‘yung di nata-typecast. I’m happy that I get to do different roles where I can learn so much. As for having a love team, I think it doesn’t fit me anymore. Maybe someday we (with McCoy) can work again, we never know. But like I said, gusto ko rin tahimik when it comes to my personal relationships. Sa ngayon, my work and my personal life are two separate things.”
