Rocco Nacino helps put finishing touches on his dream house in Antipolo City which has yet to be fully furnished

By now, Rocco Nacino shall have started doing the finishing touches of his dream house in Antipolo City, so tall that from the top floor, he could on a clear day see forever.

Asked how he felt the first time he saw his house from outside, looming behind him like a monumental dream, Rocco told Funfare, “I cried when I saw the corner of my garage ceiling. Doon ko na-realize na ito na, ginagawa na ang bahay ko. Now as I near the finishing, I take a look and say to myself, ‘I have done it!’ Kinaya ko despite the pandemic. Even though I’m short with workers, it didn’t stop me from finishing my house dahil ako na mismo ang tumulong para matuloy ‘yung paggawa.

The house with six rooms has taken almost three years to build.

“One year was allotted for the geographical surveys and application for permits and whatever,” said Rocco. “That was how the whole thing started.”

So excited was Rocco that in the vast emptiness (since the house is only partially furnished), he slept there by his lonesome on a folding bed tucked into one corner.

“It feels very different,” he noted. “Naninibago ako sa dami ng space but I do feel excited every time I sleep over there.”

Rocco (with girlfriend, volleyball star Melissa Gohing) is back in the Kapuso primetime series Descendants of the Sun which has resumed airing on GMA and will soon stream on Netflix.

Who is the lucky girl who will stay with him in that house?

“Definitely, my future wife and family...in God’s perfect time.” (Aside: Rocco’s girlfriend is volleyball player Melissa Gohing.)

Yes, Melissa has already seen the house.

“She has visited so many times already. Nakakatuwa to hear her say that she is proud of me. She has always witnessed my hard work in planning, designing and spending for the house. Nakita na rin niya kung paano ako ma-stress sa pagtapos ng bahay.

Besides supervising the construction of the house, what preoccupies Rocco is the GMA epic series Descendants of the Sun which has resumed airing and should now be streaming on Netflix.

“We’re done with the shoot for Descendants. It was super fun and I missed everyone! It was just so different with all the protocols but we understood and we made sure to abide by the safety regulations. It was fun acting again! I’m also busy getting back in shape. Sometimes, I do TV and online guestings.”

And so with his duty as a member of the military reserve force.

“It is going well and I am always excited about the activities where I support the Philippine Navy and Naval Special Operations Group (NAVSOG)...to continue inspiring our fellow citizens!“

Aside from maybe the blessing of his house, what are the first thing(s) that he will do once this pandemic is over?

“Definitely, go to the beach to unwind and enjoy nature! Nami-miss ko nang lumabas ng bahay as I am someone who loves the outdoors.”
