Miriam Jurado’s visit to the US
Miriam Jurado

In December 1963, Miriam Jurado spent several memorable weeks in the United States.

First in her US agenda was representing the Philippines at the San Francisco International Film Festival, where she met Hollywood celebrities, among them Peter Fonda, George Peppard and George Hamilton.

The Philippine entry was No Way Out, starring Leopoldo Salcedo, Ronald Remy, Lou Salvador Jr. and Lalaine Bennett. Directed by Bert Avellana and written by Rolf Bayer. Produced by Leon Lopez and Albert Joseph.

With Peter Fonda

Miriam was invited to be one of the judges in the Modern Maria Clara Contest, sponsored by the Manila Chronicle and Pan-American Airways. She met fellow judge Rosa del Rosario, who she described as ‘blonde, stunning in mink stole and fabulous evening gown.’

Her ternos were created by Karlos Burgos and Ber Hernandez.

With George Hamilton

Next on her agenda was a reunion with her American father, Francis Eisenman, who she had not seen for 10 years.

Miriam also visited her good friend and fellow actress Aura Aurea in New York. They watched Tony Bennett and Buddy Greco shows.

Right after finishing her scenes in Dinilig ng Dugo with Leopoldo and Zaldy Zshornack, she flew to San Francisco to attend the international filmfest.  — RKC
