It was a night of girl power when Heart, Cydel, Isang and Kendra topped their respective teams and emerged victorious as the four grand champions in The Voice Teens Philippines Season 2, a first in the history of the competition.

Host Luis Manzano made the surprise announcement on the second night of the competition after revealing the winners of Kamp Kawayan, Team FamiLea, Team Apl and Team Sarah. They were all in their homes but virtually connected on video.

Host Luis Manzano announces that The Voice Teens will name four grand champions

“Kami dito sa ABS-CBN ay naglalayong matulungan ang deserving teen artists pati ang kanilang mga pamilya para magkaroon pa ng kakayahang maharap at malagpasan nang matiwasay ang mga hamon na dala ng pagsubok na ito,” he said.

All four grand champions each won P500,000 and a house and lot from Lessandra after earning the highest scores from the four coaches, another first in the competition whose winners in the past were determined by the public’s text votes.

Fifty percent of each grand finalist’s score came from the points given by their coach, while the remaining half was determined by averaging the scores from the three remaining coaches.

Heart Salvador topped coach Bamboo’s Kamp Kawayan with an average score of 40.83 points from the four coaches, beating Kate Ocampo and Rock Opong. Together with Bamboo, the three sang Ain’t No Sunshine on the finale’s first night.

Cydel Gabutero reigned over Lea Salonga’s FamiLea with a near-perfect score of 48.33 points, knocking out Alexia Tag-at and Kristian Rajagopal in their powerful rendition of Lean on Me with Lea Salonga.

“First of all, gusto kong magpasalamat kay coach Lea para sa pagkakataon na maipakita ko ang talent ko sa singing and nagtiwala sa akin hanggang sa dulo. Gusto ko rin magpasalamat sa Panginoong Diyos, family, friends and relatives. Hinding-hindi ko po ito makakamit without all of you. Maraming salamat po talaga,” said Cydel.

Team Apl’s Teen winner was Isang Manlapaz with 45.83 points, edging out Yang-yang Aloya and Calvin Candelaria in the finale number Labo with Apl de Ap.

“Gusto ko pong pasalamatan ang lahat ng coaches lalong-lalo na po si coach Apl. Overflowing na pasasalamat sa inyong lahat. Hindi ko po i-ne-expect na ako po talaga mapipili po,” said Isang, who was determined to win for her family, especially her dad who lost his job during this pandemic.

Team Sarah had Kendra Aguirre as its Teen winner with a 44.17 points score, overpowering Jayllord Garche and Andre Parker. Sarah and her grand finalists sang Kung Di rin Lang Ikaw.

“Thank you so much, coach,” said Kendra, who could not contain her tears when her name was announced as the Teen winner of Team Sarah.
